[00:48.280 --> 00:52.700] In the news, the Obama administration is said to be investigating the December 12th drone [00:52.700 --> 00:54.240] strike in Yemen. [00:54.240 --> 00:59.560] That local citizens say hit a wedding party, killing 12 people and injuring 14 others. [00:59.560 --> 01:04.720] NBC News reports that they have obtained graphic image and videos of the aftermath of the strike, [01:04.720 --> 01:07.780] taken by local journalist Nasser El-Sain. [01:07.780 --> 01:11.360] The United States and Yemeni governments claim that the strike was successful in killing [01:11.360 --> 01:14.040] dangerous al-Qaeda militants. [01:14.040 --> 01:21.080] It was last month that Overstock.com CEO Patrick Barn announced that the online retailer would [01:21.080 --> 01:22.800] begin to accept Bitcoin. [01:22.800 --> 01:28.800] However, at that time, Barn expected to implement the transactions within six months. [01:28.800 --> 01:33.680] That changed Thursday, when the company suddenly began to accept Bitcoin as payment. [01:33.680 --> 01:39.880] Forbes is reporting that Overstock.com received nearly 150 Bitcoin orders within 90 minutes. [01:39.880 --> 01:44.320] Now we turn to the Liberty Beat's John Bush for this week's Blockchain.info Bitcoin Tip [01:44.320 --> 01:45.320] of the Week. [01:45.320 --> 01:49.360] Using a complex password is the first step to ensure your Bitcoins are stored safely [01:49.360 --> 01:51.160] in an online web wallet. [01:51.160 --> 01:54.640] A great second step is two-factor authentication. [01:54.640 --> 01:58.260] This process provides a second layer of protection for your wallet. [01:58.260 --> 02:02.640] On top of entering your password, you are required to enter an additional numeric code [02:02.640 --> 02:04.720] to access your wallet. [02:04.720 --> 02:08.680] Blockchain.info's wallets make it easy for the user to choose their preferred method [02:08.680 --> 02:15.520] of two-factor authentication, which are email, SMS, Google Authenticator, or YubiKey. [02:15.520 --> 02:19.840] Blockchain.info recommends using Google Authenticator or a YubiKey. [02:19.840 --> 02:24.640] This week's Bitcoin Tip of the Week was brought to you by Blockchain.info, the world's most [02:24.640 --> 02:26.480] popular Bitcoin wallet. [02:26.480 --> 02:31.080] Simple and secure, Blockchain is the easiest way to get started using Bitcoin. [02:31.080 --> 02:35.600] To learn more or to create a wallet today, visit Blockchain.info. [02:35.600 --> 02:39.520] Support for the Liberty Beat comes from AJ Processing, transcription services to increase [02:39.520 --> 02:42.360] your online traffic and subscribership. [02:52.080 --> 02:55.840] This is the Liberty Beat for Friday, January 10th, 2014. [02:55.840 --> 03:23.480] Check out the website at thelibertybeat.com. [03:23.480 --> 03:42.660] We're on the air. [03:42.660 --> 03:48.340] Yes, we're on air. [03:48.340 --> 03:49.840] Wait a minute. [03:49.840 --> 03:57.920] head on the air now everybody knows what you tell Chris every friday night yeah but my [03:57.920 --> 04:01.360] favorite thing to say every time we come on the air i say beep us bubba [04:03.440 --> 04:09.600] but i've been picking on Chris and i was saying beam us butt head and we'd come on the air we'd [04:09.600 --> 04:14.400] be chuckling and we'd tell everybody that we were just having too much fun on the break and [04:14.400 --> 04:23.760] generally that's why we were chuckling and tonight randy missed the beep so it's all out [04:23.760 --> 04:26.000] there i was waiting for you to queue in [04:28.640 --> 04:36.400] okay this will be an archive to remember oh don't tell devor about this i'll never hear you do [04:36.400 --> 04:47.920] it okay dale in florida yes sir dale are you there you didn't just you didn't just hear all [04:47.920 --> 04:57.200] that really did you dale uh i can't i won't say okay okay okay you didn't hear me say [04:57.200 --> 05:09.440] beam us but head on the air did you yeah i didn't i didn't hear you call them okay busted it is out [05:09.440 --> 05:17.200] of the box okay and we kind of lost you last night dale we came back to you but you were [05:17.200 --> 05:20.800] apparently talking to those other people and i couldn't get your attention that's why we moved [05:20.800 --> 05:31.600] you did we dropped you like a hot rock sure did okay where are we what questions or comments you [05:31.600 --> 05:40.160] have for us tonight well i uh really excited about the uh we were talking about bringing the uh [05:41.200 --> 05:47.040] the uh the bank to the table for a 30 percent on or 30 cents on the dollar [05:47.040 --> 05:55.600] um suing them and i wanted to know if there was a list of i'm fixing to go get all the the documents [05:55.600 --> 06:04.960] out of the the uh the uh the court and uh the county record okay yeah okay good that was going [06:04.960 --> 06:12.800] to say we have especially florida florida is a uh mortgage i mean mortgage state it's a so [06:12.800 --> 06:19.680] it's a so when you say court it's going to be yeah there's going to be two you're going to have [06:19.680 --> 06:27.280] the and and this is not for you dale you already know this you have the county recorder's office [06:28.080 --> 06:35.040] and that's where all documents pertaining to a claim against real property is filed [06:36.000 --> 06:39.920] and then you have generally in florida will be the district court [06:39.920 --> 06:48.960] that's how it is in texas as well uh you have in texas we have the jp county district and [06:50.240 --> 06:57.840] the county court will handle the county registrar's office so the real property records in the [06:57.840 --> 07:03.840] district court is the one where you adjudicate the case so we have records in both and when i look [07:03.840 --> 07:10.080] and when i look at someone's issue i do an evaluation all these documents i really need to see both of [07:10.080 --> 07:23.120] those for the foreclosure part i need to see what amounts to res judicata what has already been [07:23.120 --> 07:32.960] adjudicated because once you go into court and you take i'm sorry res judicata and collateral [07:32.960 --> 07:40.160] estoppel res judicata is is when you go into court and you bring an issue and you get ruled against [07:41.840 --> 07:53.440] you can't really get that issue if you come into court and state facts or state a position [07:53.440 --> 08:01.760] you cannot subsequently come into court and take a different position collateral estoppel [08:01.760 --> 08:12.400] deutsch bank sued by chase went to court and said this group of loans for which chase bank sued us [08:12.400 --> 08:20.240] we have no interest in at the same time they were foreclosing on this woman we were working with [08:20.240 --> 08:27.680] this woman we were working with for one of the notes included in that group so she went to the [08:27.680 --> 08:35.520] court and made the claim under collateral estoppel they made the claim in one court they didn't have [08:36.480 --> 08:43.520] interest in this note they cannot subsequently come to another court and say they do even if [08:43.520 --> 08:50.000] they actually do the collateral has stopped from claiming it that makes sense dale [08:52.480 --> 08:59.920] uh i understand what you're saying okay just so this is why we need to see all of it [08:59.920 --> 09:07.680] so i interrupted that was really for general information okay go ahead okay i specialize [09:07.680 --> 09:17.280] in interrupting my guests okay baton plagiarism i've got to go to the to the district court [09:19.040 --> 09:27.760] and the county recorder's office yes okay the district district clerk will have everything [09:27.760 --> 09:32.560] that's filed in the record when you go to the district clerk first thing you ask them for is a [09:32.560 --> 09:39.200] docket sheet for every case they should have it's generally the front page is the docket [09:39.840 --> 09:43.920] and every time something is filed in the case they log in on the docket [09:45.200 --> 09:53.840] so you can go down and look at it now if there's a filing in there where somebody's asking for a [09:53.840 --> 10:00.720] continuance in the court granted continuance you know this kind of administrative stuff like that [10:00.720 --> 10:06.080] that doesn't go to the issues you normally don't need to to get all of that we don't care about [10:06.080 --> 10:13.360] that we only care about what goes to the issues so when you're pulling documents unless something's [10:13.360 --> 10:19.840] relevant if it's just administrative stuff that doesn't go to any issues you don't need it but [10:19.840 --> 10:26.800] you always need the docket so that you know everything that's been filed because something [10:26.800 --> 10:33.680] you think is not relevant a because of what you find in there turned out to be but you know this [10:33.680 --> 10:40.800] can get kind of expensive if you don't already have all of these if you were a litigant you [10:40.800 --> 10:46.480] should have all these documents already or the lawyer should have all the documents shouldn't he [10:47.600 --> 10:53.920] yes and you want to take all the documents that you have and compare them to what's actually there [10:53.920 --> 11:01.360] where documents sometimes have a way of disappearing especially if they turn out to be [11:02.480 --> 11:06.400] damaging to the other side some of them can even change [11:09.360 --> 11:14.400] they have a magical way of doing that so sometimes we need to do comparisons [11:14.400 --> 11:24.240] it's but that's generally not an issue but anyway we need to get those documents first [11:24.240 --> 11:29.920] and you know people call in here and they say well what can i do and it kind of frustrates me [11:29.920 --> 11:36.000] that i can't just whip out this one and say oh you can do this you can do that you can [11:36.000 --> 11:42.080] the other i can do that and there are a lot of people out there who do that kind of thing but [11:42.080 --> 11:51.520] it's not ethical i'm i know a lot of things you can do but i don't know if it would be appropriate [11:51.520 --> 12:01.200] in your particular case the only way to really determine what to do is first let's get a good [12:01.200 --> 12:08.400] look at the case what have you got going for you what issues have you got and i'm working with [12:08.400 --> 12:16.480] someone right now we're building a tool that a questionnaire i spent a lot of work on it already [12:16.480 --> 12:23.200] well you just go in and go down the questionnaire and it'll ask you for stuff it'll ask you is there [12:23.200 --> 12:29.680] a a security instrument filed in the record if you say yes then it'll ask you a bunch of questions [12:29.680 --> 12:34.160] about the security history then it'll ask you if there's an assignment of substitute trustee [12:34.160 --> 12:40.400] if you say yes in a that's in a non-foreclosure state if if you say yes then it'll start asking [12:40.400 --> 12:46.400] you questions about that document and then it'll ask you if there's another one so we walk through [12:46.400 --> 12:54.960] all of the documents in there and all the salient points uh when you think about looking through [12:54.960 --> 13:01.520] these documents in the and i say read the document it's not as daunting as it appears [13:01.520 --> 13:08.720] and we'll use this to save you a lot of time because the deed of trust if anime freddy mack [13:08.720 --> 13:16.240] uniform is too much generally about 15 pages but all we need to look at are about the first four [13:16.240 --> 13:26.640] definitions uh the the transfer of the property paragraph and the paragraph together with paragraph [13:26.640 --> 13:34.720] together with paragraph right under that and then covenant 14 15 16 that's generally what it is [13:34.720 --> 13:42.720] sometimes they the numbers move up or down one and then covenant 20 that's really the bulk of what [13:42.720 --> 13:49.520] you need to look at in the deed of trust and look at the the affirmation where it's signed in the [13:49.520 --> 13:57.200] notary and then we go to all of the other documents filed in the record or generally one or two pages [13:58.880 --> 14:05.120] a appointment of substitute trustee a assignment of the deed of trust that's only one or two pages [14:05.760 --> 14:12.880] there's not as as much reading as you would think but anybody can do this [14:14.400 --> 14:19.200] for the most part okay we have a lot of special knowledge and things to look for [14:19.200 --> 14:25.600] but one of the first things to look for is just look at these documents and see what they say [14:25.600 --> 14:33.920] let me give you an example i got one out of the here in texas the loan was granted by [14:35.040 --> 14:44.800] uh southern star lending in 2005 in 2007 southern star lending died [14:44.800 --> 14:50.640] right there's the door now went out of business southern star lending as a person ceased to exist [14:51.600 --> 15:04.880] in 2009 deutsch bank granted a uh loan modification 2012 murrs transferred the [15:04.880 --> 15:16.560] the security instrument to deutsch bank in 2013 l keller mackey filed a a substitute trustee's [15:16.560 --> 15:26.960] deed in the court record the deed of trust named somebody as the trustee know who are in the record [15:26.960 --> 15:35.200] is anything filed that appoints l keller mackey as the trustee this is pretty straightforward [15:38.560 --> 15:47.760] southern star lending issued the note and the borrower granted privileges to southern star [15:47.760 --> 15:55.200] lending well southern star lending never transferred that claim to anybody else [15:55.200 --> 16:07.600] and then they died so murrs comes along about seven years later and acts as an agent for [16:07.600 --> 16:16.480] southern star lending well you can't be an agent for a dead guy so look at the dates look at who [16:16.480 --> 16:26.320] look at who did what deutsch bank granted a loan modification well who are they how do they have [16:26.320 --> 16:36.560] anything to do with this in the county recorder's office the only document the only people who can [16:36.560 --> 16:45.040] have a claim against the property are those who are named in the county registrar's office so [16:45.040 --> 16:50.160] just get the documents and read through them and see how they all fit together first thing that you [16:50.160 --> 16:56.720] do hang on on dale we'll be right back on the other side randy kelton steve skidmore call it [16:56.720 --> 17:03.760] number five one two six why i call him [19:59.200 --> 20:03.440] and me pray to him because he's the only one could answer in [20:04.240 --> 20:08.640] being a business what we can man say in mankind you know is this [20:08.640 --> 20:31.040] leading okay we are back and that was a rather interesting break it seems that deborah came up [20:31.040 --> 20:40.800] came showed up and uh i got told on about the the beamers thing anyway told on yourself [20:41.600 --> 20:45.040] yes i did i couldn't help it you told on yourself [20:47.120 --> 20:56.160] okay dale we are back and where were we how far down the road is this uh program or is there a [20:56.160 --> 21:04.800] uh some okay we want this the way this the deal making the deal with the banks uh i'll tell you [21:04.800 --> 21:13.440] a little story uh the the the case i told you about we filed a trespass to try title [21:14.320 --> 21:20.880] that's similar to quiet title but it's a special filing in texas it's just a little bit different [21:20.880 --> 21:28.160] the trespass to try title merely goes to who has the best title the best claim to title [21:28.160 --> 21:33.200] and there's no attorney fees and you can't ask for any damages or anything [21:34.800 --> 21:42.880] so it's a relatively simple suit so we filed this suit and what filing the suit did was got us to [21:42.880 --> 21:53.520] the right people to talk to so i get this law lawyer in houston and if you're pro se they always [21:53.520 --> 21:59.600] give the youngest lawyer in the place the pro se litigant because they figure they're the easiest [21:59.600 --> 22:06.880] to have and on a good practice form so i talked to this lawyer and and tell her what i want to do [22:06.880 --> 22:13.200] what i want to do and you know this will save you attorney fees and all that she said we already [22:13.200 --> 22:20.080] costed us 30 fees you sued us i said oh that ah don't even worry about that if if we can get an [22:20.080 --> 22:27.120] agreement to agree i'll just non-suit that thing uh we didn't care about how to start with uh we [22:27.120 --> 22:35.200] just filed that one just kind of as a stop gap she said she said well that's not really appropriate [22:35.200 --> 22:40.400] i said wow yeah we're we're pro se we can do this stuff you're you're a lawyer and you got that bar [22:40.400 --> 22:47.760] card you can't do that kind of thing but we can and she said uh oh you can oh yeah i can do that [22:47.760 --> 22:56.720] all day i got so many things i can file you won't believe it she said i bet you do but but when i [22:56.720 --> 23:06.400] told her i would non-suit she jumped right on that and i thought about it later you got a young [23:06.400 --> 23:12.320] lawyer here who's just starting out and they get this trespass to try to sidle so it's a pro se [23:12.320 --> 23:20.320] so they give it to her and she goes to her boss and said i called the ploy i talked to the plaintiff [23:20.320 --> 23:29.680] and got the plaintiff to agree to non-suit like you just see this lawyer look at her and say how [23:29.680 --> 23:42.080] did you do that so this gives the lawyer kind of a feather and we're going to save the bank a lot of [23:42.080 --> 23:53.440] money we just use the suit to get their attention and i had uh uh johnny enigma he's a regular [23:53.440 --> 24:00.960] listener he was in a foreclosure shoot he got a whole bunch of discovery and in the discovery [24:00.960 --> 24:08.240] they had accidentally left in a bill to the to their client for a hearing he said was a minor [24:08.240 --> 24:13.200] little hearing the document they filed was just kind of a fill in the blanks technical little [24:13.200 --> 24:19.760] thing took about 10 minutes they charge their client nine thousand dollars for that hearing [24:19.760 --> 24:26.400] lord we're in the wrong business yeah it's the amounts they're charging are astronomical so [24:26.400 --> 24:33.600] think about it dale you know they're saying that an uncontested foreclosure on the average costs [24:33.600 --> 24:43.840] 60 grand there's a lot of spread here if if you got a half a million dollar note [24:45.520 --> 24:52.960] and you shake a you know we're filing a trespass to try title in florida we would file a quiet title [24:52.960 --> 25:01.600] action and we would focus that we file quiet title on the deed of trust or on the [25:01.600 --> 25:07.760] in this case on the mortgage document on the security instrument and we claim this problem [25:07.760 --> 25:13.520] this problem this problem this problem this whole bunch of problems and then we call them [25:13.520 --> 25:19.920] and say let's make a deal and they complain about that don't worry about all that crap in there [25:19.920 --> 25:29.760] just that we'll not suit we put in enough stuff in there that it will cost them cost the question [25:29.760 --> 25:36.480] cost the client more than the value of the property to brief out our claims [25:38.160 --> 25:42.480] at the kind of money these lawyers are charging these folks that won't take long at all [25:44.800 --> 25:51.840] and then we go in say you know i'll not do this not a problem and just make me a deal [25:51.840 --> 25:59.120] that i can't pass up you ask them for 30 cents on the dollar they're going to come back with some [25:59.120 --> 26:07.360] ridiculously idiot claim and you say nah we're not going to do that you give them a counter offer [26:08.960 --> 26:19.120] maybe go up to 40 maybe 50 tell me dale if you could get the lender to rescind a foreclosure [26:19.120 --> 26:25.840] if a foreclosure or if a foreclosure hasn't occurred to remove all marks on your credit [26:25.840 --> 26:36.480] and sell you the note and for 50% of its original value so that your credit is fixed and you can [26:36.480 --> 26:43.360] go back and refinance at the current rate which is like four and a quarter for 54.5% interest [26:43.360 --> 26:50.560] as opposed to six seven or eight cut your payments in half would you consider that a win [26:50.560 --> 26:56.960] well i'd probably consider maybe making my first ball for 15 and and hope that it'll go up to 30 [26:59.920 --> 27:10.400] well you have to decide what is the win if you don't what for you would be an equitable outcome [27:10.400 --> 27:18.800] when when i take on someone to help them that's the first question i want to ask what do you [27:18.800 --> 27:26.880] want what do you want now if you say i want the whole property free and clear you're going to go [27:26.880 --> 27:36.400] somewhere else i don't see it happening right and i tell you our big problem here is getting some [27:36.400 --> 27:43.120] time on this because i think that we could make a good uh offer not too far down the road but we [27:43.120 --> 27:51.520] just want to stop some of the action happening well this is if you make the offer then you can [27:51.520 --> 27:57.600] ask them to abate all proceedings while we're negotiating you know what this does for you [27:58.480 --> 28:04.400] is if you do have to continue with the suit then you go to the court like i did today [28:05.760 --> 28:08.880] i said your honor you know i apologize for having to bring this to you [28:08.880 --> 28:18.880] but i tried to come to an agreement with the lawyer here but she really had an attitude and [28:19.760 --> 28:27.600] would not take my offer to her client she just refused so now we have to come in here and do [28:27.600 --> 28:36.720] this fight the court in the real world we live in the judges would rather be playing golf on [28:36.720 --> 28:40.720] golf on friday evenings rather than sitting in the courtroom [28:43.200 --> 28:48.880] and with all of this foreclosure mess the courts are getting absolutely swamped and they are not [28:48.880 --> 28:56.640] happy about it we actually have a client the first one that i've seen where the court ordered [28:56.640 --> 29:06.480] mediation told them you guys get together and see if you can find a deal that you can make to get [29:06.480 --> 29:15.840] this out of my court now you're going in as a pro se and the politics is against you [29:18.000 --> 29:24.240] until you go to the judge and say your honor i tried to make a deal with these people but they [29:24.240 --> 29:31.280] just would not deal so i'm gonna have to come back and adjudicate the case the judge is gonna be [29:31.280 --> 29:39.200] annoyed and that will begin to move the politics in your direction instead of their direction [29:39.200 --> 29:44.880] you get the judge go into these guys and say look i don't have time for this get these guys out of [29:44.880 --> 29:50.160] my court or i'm gonna kick your behind that's how it works in the world we live in this is [30:56.480 --> 31:02.000] experiment duke university researchers injected mice with an adrenaline-like compound that mimics [31:02.000 --> 31:08.720] stress in human beings they found a sharp reduction in p53 a protein that keeps cells healthy and [31:08.720 --> 31:14.480] prevents cancer when the mice's level of p53 stayed low their chromosomes began to develop [31:14.480 --> 31:20.640] [34:10.880 --> 34:12.880] They've got it all mixed up [34:13.880 --> 34:14.880] No they don't [34:14.880 --> 34:16.880] Oh this is terrible! [34:16.880 --> 34:20.880] I'm supposed to say to the producer [34:20.880 --> 34:22.880] Beam us butt-head [34:22.880 --> 34:26.880] Now they've changed it in to beam the butt-head back on the air [34:28.880 --> 34:31.880] That was an executive decision [34:32.880 --> 34:33.880] Yeah [34:33.880 --> 34:35.880] You just got a raise Randy [34:37.880 --> 34:39.880] Okay Dale [34:39.880 --> 34:41.880] Where were we? [34:42.880 --> 34:43.880] Oh boy [34:43.880 --> 34:46.880] A few folks could hear half the stuff that goes on over the breaks [34:48.880 --> 34:50.880] We're having far too much fun [34:50.880 --> 34:51.880] Dale [34:52.880 --> 34:56.880] We've kind of run all over the place [34:58.880 --> 35:00.880] We were talking about the deal [35:00.880 --> 35:05.880] Is there a question you have or a comment you want to make about the deal? [35:06.880 --> 35:08.880] Well I think at this point [35:08.880 --> 35:14.880] What I need to do is go gather some of the information [35:14.880 --> 35:18.880] And go look at maybe a couple of documents [35:18.880 --> 35:21.880] And then plan out my strategy [35:21.880 --> 35:25.880] And possibly call you back and see if I'm on the right track [35:26.880 --> 35:28.880] That is a perfect answer [35:29.880 --> 35:33.880] And my apologies I asked you the wrong question [35:33.880 --> 35:39.880] Sometimes when you ask someone a question in order to answer the question [35:39.880 --> 35:41.880] They have to decide something in their mind [35:41.880 --> 35:47.880] And I didn't want to push you to make a decision on what you're going to do [35:47.880 --> 35:49.880] By the question that I asked [35:49.880 --> 35:51.880] So your answer was perfect [35:51.880 --> 35:54.880] Yeah before we decide on anything [35:54.880 --> 35:56.880] We look at what we got [35:56.880 --> 36:05.880] And I didn't want to create a lot of dead air on the air by thinking about the question too long [36:05.880 --> 36:10.880] I really liked what you said about holding your thoughts [36:10.880 --> 36:15.880] And not responding to the judge as quick as I expected [36:15.880 --> 36:18.880] That works real good but not when you're on the radio [36:18.880 --> 36:19.880] Right [36:19.880 --> 36:23.880] Okay and one thing I'm concerned about [36:23.880 --> 36:26.880] How long have you been in this fight Dale? [36:28.880 --> 36:31.880] This has been going on for a couple of years now [36:31.880 --> 36:35.880] Keep in mind that the fight is really a couple [36:35.880 --> 36:38.880] It's a friends of mine, an elderly couple [36:38.880 --> 36:43.880] And I've kind of come in to help them out because they're personal friends [36:43.880 --> 36:47.880] Okay you're in a fight of your own right? [36:47.880 --> 36:48.880] Right [36:49.880 --> 36:52.880] Okay here's my concern [36:52.880 --> 36:55.880] We get into these fights [36:55.880 --> 37:00.880] And the courts are absolutely ruthless [37:00.880 --> 37:04.880] They rule against you out of hand at every turn [37:04.880 --> 37:08.880] And when you're doing this and you have a dog in the hunt [37:08.880 --> 37:11.880] It's tough, it's difficult [37:11.880 --> 37:14.880] You have strong emotional reactions to what they do [37:14.880 --> 37:17.880] And if you're not careful [37:17.880 --> 37:23.880] It stops being about an outcome and starts being about the fight [37:24.880 --> 37:30.880] Always make sure you have an outcome [37:30.880 --> 37:37.880] And you really don't have an outcome unless you've written it down [37:37.880 --> 37:40.880] Write down what would be a win [37:40.880 --> 37:43.880] Ask this couple for you [37:43.880 --> 37:52.880] What would be a reasonable end result? [37:53.880 --> 38:02.880] What is the least that you could accept as a reasonable outcome? [38:03.880 --> 38:06.880] Now you have something to look toward [38:06.880 --> 38:09.880] You want to get better than the least [38:09.880 --> 38:14.880] But you really want to know where to draw the line [38:14.880 --> 38:17.880] And when you get to that line, now you've won [38:17.880 --> 38:21.880] Now if it's not done, if you can do better, wonderful [38:21.880 --> 38:23.880] But if you can't do better [38:23.880 --> 38:27.880] Does it make any difference how PO'd I am at them? [38:27.880 --> 38:32.880] Does it make any difference how bad they make me feel? [38:32.880 --> 38:37.880] Makes no difference whether or not I can punish them [38:37.880 --> 38:43.880] That is, punishing the other side is not a viable outcome [38:43.880 --> 38:46.880] Write down your outcome [38:46.880 --> 38:52.880] And if at any point in the process [38:52.880 --> 38:57.880] If you consider taking an action, always ask yourself [38:57.880 --> 39:04.880] Will this next action lead me toward my outcome? [39:04.880 --> 39:09.880] If it won't lead me toward my outcome, don't do it [39:09.880 --> 39:11.880] No matter how much you want to [39:11.880 --> 39:19.880] I have had times where I really wanted to read a judge the riot act [39:19.880 --> 39:25.880] And let that guy know how the cow ate the cabbage [39:25.880 --> 39:29.880] But it would not lead me toward my outcome [39:29.880 --> 39:36.880] So I could not do it. I had to shut my mouth and bite my tongue [39:36.880 --> 39:40.880] Everybody who is in one of these issues [39:40.880 --> 39:44.880] You have to have an outcome [39:44.880 --> 39:46.880] Write it down [39:46.880 --> 39:49.880] That is your protection [39:49.880 --> 39:53.880] Quick story, a woman in Pennsylvania [39:53.880 --> 39:57.880] She helped people with IRS issues [39:57.880 --> 39:59.880] She helped a personal friend [39:59.880 --> 40:01.880] They referred her to the next door neighbor [40:01.880 --> 40:03.880] Went to the next door neighbor [40:03.880 --> 40:07.880] They had two IRS leads against their property [40:07.880 --> 40:09.880] And they wanted to get rid of the leads [40:09.880 --> 40:11.880] So I handed them to her [40:11.880 --> 40:12.880] She read them over [40:12.880 --> 40:13.880] You want to get rid of these? [40:13.880 --> 40:14.880] They said yes [40:14.880 --> 40:15.880] She tore them up, threw them in the trash [40:15.880 --> 40:17.880] They're gone [40:17.880 --> 40:19.880] And they were flabbergasted [40:19.880 --> 40:24.880] She said, guys, these things expired two years ago [40:24.880 --> 40:27.880] And the IRS didn't renew them [40:27.880 --> 40:28.880] So they're gone [40:28.880 --> 40:30.880] So what did these people do? [40:30.880 --> 40:34.880] They write a scathing letter to the IRS [40:34.880 --> 40:39.880] The IRS renewed the liens [40:39.880 --> 40:42.880] You've got to know when you've won [40:42.880 --> 40:44.880] And if you don't have it written down [40:44.880 --> 40:48.880] You get caught up in the fight [40:48.880 --> 40:51.880] You're kicking and gouging and they're punching and bruising [40:51.880 --> 40:56.880] And you lose sight of the prize [40:56.880 --> 41:00.880] Write it down [41:00.880 --> 41:01.880] Write it down [41:01.880 --> 41:12.880] Have these two people write down what for them would be a reasonable and acceptable outcome [41:12.880 --> 41:18.880] You would be amazed at how much that protects you [41:18.880 --> 41:21.880] I will certainly do that [41:21.880 --> 41:25.880] And I really appreciate your advice [41:25.880 --> 41:27.880] And, of course, your support there [41:27.880 --> 41:34.880] And I'm going to get on this and see what we can do and how far we can go [41:34.880 --> 41:37.880] And then I'll touch base back with you [41:37.880 --> 41:40.880] OK, thank you, Dale [41:40.880 --> 41:41.880] Thank you [41:41.880 --> 41:46.880] Keep us up to speed and don't be a stranger [41:46.880 --> 41:48.880] Right, will do, thank you [41:48.880 --> 41:52.880] OK, now we're going to go to George in Texas [41:52.880 --> 41:54.880] Hello, George [41:54.880 --> 41:56.880] How are you doing, Randy? [41:56.880 --> 41:58.880] Can you hear me? [41:58.880 --> 41:59.880] I can hear you [41:59.880 --> 42:00.880] Hello? [42:00.880 --> 42:06.880] Yeah, Randy, I know switching gears is going into a different subject [42:06.880 --> 42:09.880] But I just noticed there's a dangerous trend going on [42:09.880 --> 42:14.880] And I kind of noticed when I was listening to a story out of Houston [42:14.880 --> 42:21.880] I would say a 10-year-old accused of sexual assault on a younger child [42:21.880 --> 42:29.880] And the most disturbing thing was, and I kind of noticed it, is that when the police investigators interrogate a child [42:29.880 --> 42:34.880] They do not allow the parents to at least sit in [42:34.880 --> 42:37.880] And this is something that's very disturbing [42:37.880 --> 42:39.880] I just came last week and came out of this [42:39.880 --> 42:47.880] OK, wait a minute, when they do that they always have an ad litem [42:47.880 --> 42:52.880] They always have a representative for the child there [42:52.880 --> 42:56.880] You can't have the parents there [42:56.880 --> 43:08.880] The very thing I was talking to Dale about is way, way too much emotional involvement [43:08.880 --> 43:15.880] If you have the parents there, they're going to be going ballistic [43:15.880 --> 43:19.880] So I understand why they wouldn't want the parents there [43:19.880 --> 43:26.880] But they always have an ad litem of some type there specifically to represent the child [43:26.880 --> 43:34.880] My son got into a fight last week in school standing up to the school bully in the yard [43:34.880 --> 43:40.880] And I just told the school police my son is not talking [43:40.880 --> 43:44.880] OK, wait a minute, hold on, hold on [43:44.880 --> 43:48.880] We're about to go to break, but you're kind of breaking up there a little bit [43:48.880 --> 43:50.880] Hang on, we'll pick this up on the other side [43:50.880 --> 43:55.880] This is Randy Kelton, Steve Skidmore, Deborah Stevens with our radio [43:55.880 --> 44:05.880] We'll be right back [44:25.880 --> 44:35.880] We'll be right back [44:55.880 --> 45:03.880] Are you the plaintiff or defendant in a lawsuit? [47:07.880 --> 47:09.880] What did they do? [47:09.880 --> 47:17.880] Well, he was detained by the school district police, and I always told my son, never talk to the police [47:17.880 --> 47:23.880] I just told him, silence is gold and don't talk to the police from when I went up to the school [47:23.880 --> 47:31.880] And they said my son was not cooperating, I just said, well, I told my son until we talked to a lawyer [47:31.880 --> 47:36.880] He's not saying nothing, and they let me out of the door [47:36.880 --> 47:42.880] They couldn't do nothing on that, but I always told my son, never talk to the police [47:42.880 --> 47:50.880] Okay, hold on, I am concerned here [47:50.880 --> 47:57.880] You know, we pick on the police a lot, but I know a number of police officers [47:57.880 --> 48:03.880] And I don't know a single one who thinks of himself as a jack-booted thug [48:03.880 --> 48:07.880] Especially when it comes to children [48:07.880 --> 48:14.880] And the schools, I wouldn't want to be in their position, that's difficult [48:14.880 --> 48:21.880] If your son got in a fight with a school yard bully and worked him over [48:21.880 --> 48:31.880] Your son should expect retribution from the school and should embrace it [48:31.880 --> 48:35.880] That will make him a hero [48:35.880 --> 48:42.880] I'm going to say to you, unless they're doing something horribly outrageous to your son [48:42.880 --> 48:47.880] Give these guys a little credit, I'm going to tell a little story here [48:47.880 --> 48:53.880] To kind of illustrate, I have a friend who had a ten-year-old daughter [48:53.880 --> 48:59.880] That another child, who was kind of a bully in the school [48:59.880 --> 49:07.880] Went around telling everybody that this ten-year-old was doing sexual things to him [49:07.880 --> 49:13.880] That was absolutely not in the purview of ten-year-olds [49:13.880 --> 49:16.880] It was a holy crap [49:16.880 --> 49:21.880] And this got to the principal, the principal called the girl in [49:21.880 --> 49:25.880] And a male friend of hers, who had heard the story [49:25.880 --> 49:31.880] And he recorded their statements, and Hal was just outraged [49:31.880 --> 49:34.880] That he had recorded their statements [49:34.880 --> 49:38.880] And I said, Hal, what would you do if you were the principal [49:38.880 --> 49:42.880] And you hear this outrageous story [49:42.880 --> 49:46.880] Clearly these children are repeating trash [49:46.880 --> 49:52.880] This kid is repeating trash, he heard from his parents because he's a ten-year-old [49:52.880 --> 49:57.880] He's too young to understand anything this sexually sophisticated [49:57.880 --> 50:00.880] So if you're the principal, what are you going to do [50:00.880 --> 50:06.880] I said, if I was the principal, I'd take a recorded statement, give it to the school board [50:06.880 --> 50:10.880] And say, guys, handle this, I don't want to touch it [50:10.880 --> 50:13.880] And that's exactly what they did [50:13.880 --> 50:18.880] And then he was insisting they do something about it [50:18.880 --> 50:22.880] And he was concerned because they called in the sheriff's department [50:22.880 --> 50:27.880] And I told him, you know, these are grown-ups [50:27.880 --> 50:30.880] These are grown-ups dealing with children [50:30.880 --> 50:37.880] You might give them a little latitude, they kind of know what they're doing [50:37.880 --> 50:42.880] And what happened was, is they called in this [50:42.880 --> 50:49.880] They had a woman with the sheriff's department that handled problems with the school [50:49.880 --> 50:57.880] She went in, walked into the classroom [50:57.880 --> 51:02.880] Jerked this kid out of his chair, put cuffs on him [51:02.880 --> 51:05.880] And they just made this incredibly big production [51:05.880 --> 51:10.880] And pulled him out of the room, they took him across the hall, they read him the riot act [51:10.880 --> 51:16.880] They took the cuffs off of him and sent him back to the room [51:16.880 --> 51:21.880] It was handled, the problem went away [51:21.880 --> 51:27.880] And, you know, Hal come back later and he said, you were right, these guys knew what they were doing [51:27.880 --> 51:32.880] And, you know, we would say they're violating their rights, they're being bullies and all that [51:32.880 --> 51:38.880] They weren't, these guys, these were grown-ups, these were dealing with 10-year-olds [51:38.880 --> 51:41.880] And they weren't trying to abuse the 10-year-olds [51:41.880 --> 51:51.880] This was a very, very serious situation and they handled it absolutely elegantly [51:51.880 --> 51:56.880] Before you get too upset at the school [51:56.880 --> 52:00.880] I have had issues with the school, I've really worked them over [52:00.880 --> 52:07.880] I only asked the sheriff's department to arrest the school board once [52:07.880 --> 52:10.880] That's all? [52:10.880 --> 52:12.880] Yeah, only once [52:12.880 --> 52:18.880] While they were in executive session, I called the sheriff's department and asked them to come out and arrest the school board [52:18.880 --> 52:22.880] And the president of the school board was a captain on the sheriff's department [52:22.880 --> 52:24.880] Oh God [52:24.880 --> 52:32.880] But with that said, dealing with these children is difficult [52:32.880 --> 52:37.880] And if your son got in a fight with the schoolyard bully [52:37.880 --> 52:45.880] You should step back and let your son take, let the school handle this [52:45.880 --> 52:49.880] He needs to have some retribution come back at him [52:49.880 --> 52:52.880] That'll make him a hero [52:52.880 --> 53:01.880] Well, Randy, he is a hero, he's got more offers for dates from ladies than I had my whole lifetime [53:01.880 --> 53:06.880] Okay, well, you need to butt out [53:06.880 --> 53:10.880] Don't come in and be the daddy, let him handle it [53:10.880 --> 53:15.880] Give him coaching, but don't go down there and interfere [53:15.880 --> 53:20.880] I never interfered with my children unless they came to me [53:20.880 --> 53:24.880] My daughter came to me and said, Dad, you need to come to the school board meeting [53:24.880 --> 53:29.880] Why? I said, well, the Spanish teacher is going to quit [53:29.880 --> 53:33.880] Well, so they'll hire another Spanish teacher [53:33.880 --> 53:39.880] Well, Dad, if they hire another Spanish teacher, he'll expect me to know first-year Spanish [53:39.880 --> 53:44.880] I said, Robin, you make straight A's, she said, I know, Dad [53:44.880 --> 53:48.880] But he'll expect me to know first-year Spanish [53:48.880 --> 53:50.880] Okay, I'm coming [53:50.880 --> 53:55.880] I never went down there unless they asked me to [53:55.880 --> 54:03.880] Well, suppose my son encounters the police outside the school [54:03.880 --> 54:07.880] And believe me, like I said, I got some police [54:07.880 --> 54:10.880] Okay, that's different [54:10.880 --> 54:21.880] Because the police they have in the schools, they tend to have police in the schools that are there specifically to deal with children [54:21.880 --> 54:25.880] And they're trained and they know how to deal with children [54:25.880 --> 54:33.880] When they get outside the schools, they get into a whole different venue [54:33.880 --> 54:40.880] So there, I would not be bashful [54:40.880 --> 54:45.880] Okay, and I'm sorry, I haven't let you tell your whole issue [54:45.880 --> 54:49.880] I've been a little bit presumptuous and I didn't mean to be [54:49.880 --> 54:52.880] How old is your son? [54:52.880 --> 54:55.880] Thirteen years old [54:55.880 --> 54:57.880] Thirteen? [54:57.880 --> 54:58.880] Yes [54:58.880 --> 55:04.880] You understand that puberty causes brain damage? [55:04.880 --> 55:08.880] Oh, he has no vaccines [55:08.880 --> 55:10.880] There's no vaccine for this one [55:10.880 --> 55:11.880] Good one [55:11.880 --> 55:18.880] Thirteen, you really, really need to be careful [55:18.880 --> 55:25.880] He's really beginning to come into his own [55:25.880 --> 55:29.880] And if he gets in trouble at thirteen [55:29.880 --> 55:38.880] All you need to do is stand back and make sure that nobody does anything outrageous [55:38.880 --> 55:45.880] But if he does something that brings punishment down on him, back up and let him take [55:45.880 --> 55:48.880] Make him a hero [55:48.880 --> 55:52.880] If his parents come in, he's going to be PO'd at you [55:52.880 --> 55:56.880] But you know, I told him before it is the counter of dealing with bullies [55:56.880 --> 56:02.880] I said, son, if you ever had to defend yourself from a bully [56:02.880 --> 56:05.880] For your dignity and your self-respect [56:05.880 --> 56:08.880] I said, I will back you up [56:08.880 --> 56:13.880] But if you go out and you bullcock somebody, that's a different story [56:13.880 --> 56:18.880] Perfect [56:18.880 --> 56:21.880] And that's how it should be [56:21.880 --> 56:23.880] We need to back them up [56:23.880 --> 56:30.880] With mine, I was well known in the town I live in to be a real SOB [56:30.880 --> 56:33.880] But I never interfered [56:33.880 --> 56:37.880] When my children got in trouble, they got in trouble [56:37.880 --> 56:42.880] If they needed my help, they would come to me [56:42.880 --> 56:44.880] They came to me [56:44.880 --> 56:46.880] It had to be a really big deal [56:46.880 --> 56:51.880] Because they knew I was going to go through there stomping my feet all the way [56:51.880 --> 56:54.880] And for the most part it worked out well [56:54.880 --> 56:59.880] But at thirteen, a boy at thirteen [56:59.880 --> 57:04.880] He's really beginning to come into his own [57:04.880 --> 57:11.880] And is he angry? [57:11.880 --> 57:13.880] Well, my son angry? [57:13.880 --> 57:15.880] Yeah, is he angry? [57:15.880 --> 57:17.880] No [57:17.880 --> 57:20.880] Okay, he will be [57:20.880 --> 57:22.880] He will be and it's okay [57:22.880 --> 57:24.880] He's going to hate you [57:24.880 --> 57:26.880] And they're supposed to [57:26.880 --> 57:28.880] They go through these stages [57:28.880 --> 57:30.880] This is a hard time [57:30.880 --> 57:39.880] The single most difficult period of my life was thirteen to seventeen [57:39.880 --> 57:43.880] At eighteen, I went in the military and went to Vietnam [57:43.880 --> 57:48.880] Really, really bad things happened in Vietnam [57:48.880 --> 57:53.880] But that wasn't as bad as thirteen to seventeen [57:53.880 --> 57:57.880] Thirteen to seventeen was really, really tough [57:57.880 --> 58:01.880] I'll let you get that on the callers, Randy [58:01.880 --> 58:06.880] Okay, I hope I haven't sounded too patronizing [58:06.880 --> 58:08.880] I didn't mean to [58:08.880 --> 58:09.880] You didn't [58:09.880 --> 58:11.880] Okay, hang on [58:11.880 --> 58:12.880] Go ahead, George [58:12.880 --> 58:14.880] Thank you for calling in [58:14.880 --> 58:16.880] And we're going to go to [58:16.880 --> 58:18.880] Oh, okay, hang on, George 01:00:47.880] online at austinanimalclinic.com [01:00:47.880 --> 01:00:50.880] In the news, the Obama Administration is said to be investigating [01:00:50.880 --> 01:00:53.880] the December 12th drone strike in Yemen [01:00:53.880 --> 01:00:55.880] that local citizens say hit a wedding party [01:00:55.880 --> 01:00:58.880] killing 12 people and injuring 14 others [01:00:58.880 --> 01:01:02.880] NBC News reports that they have obtained graphic image and videos [01:01:02.880 --> 01:01:04.880] of the aftermath of the strike [01:01:04.880 --> 01:01:07.880] taken by local journalist Nasser El-Sain [01:01:07.880 --> 01:01:10.880] The United States and Yemeni governments claim that the strike was successful [01:01:10.880 --> 01:01:13.880] in killing dangerous al-Qaeda militants [01:01:13.880 --> 01:01:18.880] It was last month that Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne announced [01:01:18.880 --> 01:01:22.880] that the online retailer would begin to accept Bitcoin [01:01:22.880 --> 01:01:27.880] However, at that time, Byrne expected to implement the transactions within six months [01:01:27.880 --> 01:01:32.880] That changed Thursday when the company suddenly began to accept Bitcoin as payment [01:01:32.880 --> 01:01:38.880] Forbes is reporting that Overstock.com received nearly 150 Bitcoin orders within 90 minutes [01:01:38.880 --> 01:01:44.880] Now we turn to the Liberty Beat's John Bush for this week's Blockchain.info Bitcoin Tip of the Week [01:01:44.880 --> 01:01:50.880] Using a complex password is the first step to ensure your Bitcoins are stored safely in an online web wallet [01:01:50.880 --> 01:01:53.880] A great second step is two-factor authentication [01:01:53.880 --> 01:01:57.880] This process provides a second layer of protection for your wallet [01:01:57.880 --> 01:02:01.880] On top of entering your password, you are required to enter an additional numeric code [01:02:01.880 --> 01:02:03.880] to access your wallet [01:02:03.880 --> 01:02:09.880] Blockchain.info's wallets make it easy for the user to choose their preferred method of two-factor authentication [01:02:09.880 --> 01:02:14.880] which are email, SMS, Google Authenticator, or Yubikey [01:02:14.880 --> 01:02:18.880] Blockchain.info recommends using Google Authenticator or a Yubikey [01:02:18.880 --> 01:02:21.880] This week's Bitcoin Tip of the Week was brought to you by [01:02:21.880 --> 01:02:25.880] Blockchain.info, the world's most popular Bitcoin wallet [01:02:25.880 --> 01:02:30.880] Simple and secure, Blockchain is the easiest way to get started using Bitcoin [01:04:10.160 --> 01:04:19.120] Okay, looks like we lost Matt, Mike, Mike, you need to call back in, we do want to get [01:04:19.120 --> 01:04:20.120] to you. [01:04:20.120 --> 01:04:24.920] And I apologize it's so late and you've hung around so long because Mike has some really [01:04:24.920 --> 01:04:30.400] good stuff about a no good rotten corrupt judge here in Travis County. [01:04:30.400 --> 01:04:34.920] Right now, I'm going to go to Debra on this child bullying issue. [01:04:34.920 --> 01:04:35.920] Debra? [01:04:35.920 --> 01:04:41.160] Yeah, normally I'm not on on Friday nights, but I was coming home and I heard this discussion. [01:04:41.160 --> 01:04:47.680] I didn't hear how it all started, but basically, you know, having to do with fights and schools [01:04:47.680 --> 01:04:51.720] and the bullying and all this and that. [01:04:51.720 --> 01:04:57.480] This is something that has been going on for a while recently now that is completely and [01:04:57.480 --> 01:05:01.560] totally different than the way it's ever been in schools. [01:05:01.560 --> 01:05:08.900] Like when I was growing up, for example, there is a new policy now in schools and it is derived [01:05:08.900 --> 01:05:13.960] from the evil roots of collectivism, okay? [01:05:13.960 --> 01:05:15.740] And this is what it is. [01:05:15.740 --> 01:05:21.920] This is what they teach the schools now because remember all the schools, they are collectivist [01:05:21.920 --> 01:05:24.040] churn mills, okay? [01:05:24.040 --> 01:05:29.840] They are there to turn out good little cogs in the wheel, okay? [01:05:29.840 --> 01:05:31.800] It is based on the Prussian model. [01:05:31.800 --> 01:05:39.120] It has nothing to do with education in reality as far as teaching kids skills and, and, uh, [01:05:39.120 --> 01:05:42.800] you know, actual, you know, material like math and science. [01:05:42.800 --> 01:05:46.120] I mean, come on, all the stuff they teach all the way up to high school, you could teach [01:05:46.120 --> 01:05:48.200] kids that when they're eight years old, okay? [01:05:48.200 --> 01:05:50.580] This has nothing to do with any of that. [01:05:50.580 --> 01:05:53.520] It has to do with training. [01:05:53.520 --> 01:05:55.600] This is on record, okay? [01:05:55.600 --> 01:05:59.600] The people that founded our school systems went over to the Europe and they studied the [01:05:59.600 --> 01:06:05.640] Prussian model and they have implemented it to a T and furthermore, they have even, uh, [01:06:05.640 --> 01:06:07.080] they've advanced on it. [01:06:07.080 --> 01:06:08.080] All right. [01:06:08.080 --> 01:06:12.760] So here's, I want to lay that groundwork, okay, before, uh, in order to get to the issue [01:06:12.760 --> 01:06:17.040] of the policy, okay, that is in place now in our schools. [01:06:17.040 --> 01:06:20.780] And many of you know exactly what I'm about to say because you've been listening, hearing [01:06:20.780 --> 01:06:26.360] it on Alex Jones and, and many other people are talking about this is horrendous is Mark [01:06:26.360 --> 01:06:27.360] Pasio. [01:06:27.360 --> 01:06:29.920] Uh, I just mastered a documentary for him. [01:06:29.920 --> 01:06:31.640] He gets into this. [01:06:31.640 --> 01:06:34.960] Here's the collectivist policy, okay? [01:06:34.960 --> 01:06:42.400] It is this in the schools, it doesn't matter who starts the fight. [01:06:42.400 --> 01:06:48.520] The only thing that matters is that if you're in a fight, if you're one of the kids in the [01:06:48.520 --> 01:06:51.640] fight, you get punished equally as everyone else. [01:06:51.640 --> 01:06:52.640] Now excuse me. [01:06:52.640 --> 01:06:54.000] That promotes bully ism. [01:06:54.000 --> 01:06:55.000] All right. [01:06:55.000 --> 01:06:56.720] That does not stop it. [01:06:56.720 --> 01:06:58.240] That promotes it. [01:06:58.240 --> 01:06:59.240] Okay. [01:06:59.240 --> 01:07:03.660] Because it teaches the bully that, Hey, it doesn't matter if I start a fight. [01:07:03.660 --> 01:07:05.960] It doesn't matter if I'm the one defending myself. [01:07:05.960 --> 01:07:11.560] It doesn't matter because if you're in a fight, either way you get punished equally. [01:07:11.560 --> 01:07:12.660] Okay. [01:07:12.660 --> 01:07:18.200] And it teaches the kids that it, you don't have a right to defend yourself. [01:07:18.200 --> 01:07:19.200] Okay. [01:07:19.200 --> 01:07:21.720] You just better not be caught in a fight no matter what. [01:07:21.720 --> 01:07:22.720] All right. [01:07:22.720 --> 01:07:27.560] And so if a bully comes up and punches you in the face, you better not do anything about [01:07:27.560 --> 01:07:29.000] it and they start kicking you. [01:07:29.000 --> 01:07:33.600] I guess you better just curl up in a fetal position and let them bash your skull in. [01:07:33.600 --> 01:07:35.080] I guess that's the message. [01:07:35.080 --> 01:07:36.680] Oh, but you know what? [01:07:36.680 --> 01:07:38.640] You probably couldn't even do that. [01:07:38.640 --> 01:07:43.080] Even if you curl up in a field position, you'd still be accused of being in a fight. [01:07:43.080 --> 01:07:44.080] Okay. [01:07:44.080 --> 01:07:45.360] So what is the message here? [01:07:45.360 --> 01:07:47.320] What are people supposed to do? [01:07:47.320 --> 01:07:48.320] All right. [01:07:48.320 --> 01:07:50.240] And if, if I had kids, this is what I would do. [01:07:50.240 --> 01:07:57.240] I would teach them how to attempt to reason with people and, and negotiation methods, [01:07:57.240 --> 01:08:03.160] uh, you know, to, to try to calm the situation down, how to defuse a situation. [01:08:03.160 --> 01:08:10.600] They do this in a hand gun, um, handgun classes at, uh, uh, cap, uh, the, um, I forgot it [01:08:10.600 --> 01:08:15.880] was one of our sponsors here in town, uh, uh, central Texas gun works. [01:08:15.880 --> 01:08:20.920] When you take handgun classes from them, one of the things they do is they teach you, excuse [01:08:20.920 --> 01:08:23.440] me, let me turn that phone off. [01:08:23.440 --> 01:08:28.640] Uh, one of the things they do is they teach you, uh, how to defuse situations to keep [01:08:28.640 --> 01:08:29.640] them from escalating. [01:08:29.640 --> 01:08:30.640] Okay. [01:08:30.640 --> 01:08:33.000] So that's what I would do to my kids. [01:08:33.000 --> 01:08:38.400] First off, uh, if I had kids, I would teach them de-escalation techniques, psychological [01:08:38.400 --> 01:08:43.720] techniques of how to de-escalate a situation, uh, if at all possible. [01:08:43.720 --> 01:08:46.600] But remember you're dealing with psychopaths here. [01:08:46.600 --> 01:08:47.600] Okay. [01:08:47.600 --> 01:08:51.720] You're dealing with kids that are raised by children, children raising children. [01:08:51.720 --> 01:08:52.720] Okay. [01:08:52.720 --> 01:08:57.920] You're dealing with raising psychopaths, uh, authoritarians, raising little authoritarians [01:08:57.920 --> 01:09:01.800] and sometimes de-escalation techniques do not work. [01:09:01.800 --> 01:09:05.640] Even if you have somebody who's very intelligent, a child who's very intelligent, very well [01:09:05.640 --> 01:09:06.640] reasoned. [01:09:06.640 --> 01:09:07.640] Okay. [01:09:07.640 --> 01:09:09.360] Sometimes it doesn't work. [01:09:09.360 --> 01:09:13.560] Sometimes the bully is just going to hit the other kid no matter what. [01:09:13.560 --> 01:09:14.560] All right. [01:09:14.560 --> 01:09:21.280] Well, I'll tell you what, I would never encourage my kid to just stand there or sit there and [01:09:21.280 --> 01:09:23.540] let somebody else beat up on him. [01:09:23.540 --> 01:09:25.920] We have a right to defend ourselves. [01:09:25.920 --> 01:09:26.920] Period. [01:09:26.920 --> 01:09:27.920] Okay. [01:09:27.920 --> 01:09:32.600] Now I would, I wouldn't want, uh, my kid to start a fight, but remember, uh, if you go [01:09:32.600 --> 01:09:37.120] and watch Mark Pasio's latest documentary, it was, it's a three part documentary. [01:09:37.120 --> 01:09:38.960] Uh, you, you can go look him up. [01:09:38.960 --> 01:09:45.040] Uh, Mark Pasio at the Omni Hotel, uh, a couple of months ago, he's, he's railing about this. [01:09:45.040 --> 01:09:49.200] He's like, because this policy, it doesn't matter who started the fight. [01:09:49.200 --> 01:09:50.200] Excuse me. [01:09:50.200 --> 01:09:55.280] The only thing that matters is who started the fight. [01:09:55.280 --> 01:09:56.280] Okay. [01:09:56.280 --> 01:10:01.720] This goes to the basic premise of what, of what is right versus what is wrong and that [01:10:01.720 --> 01:10:07.960] there is an, um, there is an objective difference between right and wrong. [01:10:07.960 --> 01:10:08.960] Okay. [01:10:08.960 --> 01:10:09.960] Right. [01:10:09.960 --> 01:10:10.960] Isn't what's right for me. [01:10:10.960 --> 01:10:11.960] Okay. [01:10:11.960 --> 01:10:12.960] Hold on. [01:10:12.960 --> 01:10:13.960] Sorry. [01:10:13.960 --> 01:10:14.960] Wrong. [01:10:14.960 --> 01:10:17.560] Isn't what's wrong for me. [01:10:17.560 --> 01:10:22.380] There is an objective difference between right and wrong. [01:10:22.380 --> 01:10:27.480] Reality and truth exists, whether we have a skewed perception of it or not. [01:10:27.480 --> 01:10:28.480] Okay. [01:10:28.480 --> 01:10:31.840] And here's the fundamental basic difference between right and wrong. [01:10:31.840 --> 01:10:34.240] You don't harm somebody else. [01:10:34.240 --> 01:10:35.240] Okay. [01:10:35.240 --> 01:10:36.880] If you're acting in self-defense, that's one thing. [01:10:36.880 --> 01:10:37.880] All right. [01:10:37.880 --> 01:10:39.960] Otherwise you cannot initiate aggression. [01:10:39.960 --> 01:10:40.960] All right. [01:10:40.960 --> 01:10:43.800] And every form of wrong boils down to a form of stealing. [01:10:43.800 --> 01:10:44.800] All right. [01:10:44.800 --> 01:10:50.080] If you lie to somebody, you're stealing their right to have knowledge of the truth in order [01:10:50.080 --> 01:10:54.480] to make proper decisions for themselves and their family. [01:10:54.480 --> 01:11:00.080] If you assault someone, you are, you are stealing from them, their, their homeostasis, their, [01:11:00.080 --> 01:11:04.800] their right to be healthy and, and to, and to not be bruised up and hurt. [01:11:04.800 --> 01:11:05.800] Okay. [01:11:05.800 --> 01:11:08.280] Every form of wrong boils down to a form of stealing. [01:11:08.280 --> 01:11:09.280] Okay. [01:11:09.280 --> 01:11:11.800] And you do not have the right to steal from somebody else. [01:11:11.800 --> 01:11:13.600] What does not belong to you? [01:11:13.600 --> 01:11:14.600] Okay. [01:11:14.600 --> 01:11:22.360] So I'm sorry, but I cannot buy into this BS collectivist crap that it does not matter [01:11:22.360 --> 01:11:23.700] who starts a fight. [01:11:23.700 --> 01:11:26.000] The only thing that matters is who starts a fight. [01:11:26.000 --> 01:11:31.120] And so I understand what you're saying, Randy, about not interfering with the kids unless [01:11:31.120 --> 01:11:32.440] they come to you. [01:11:32.440 --> 01:11:38.080] But remember when they're children, even if they're 13, 14, they're still formulating [01:11:38.080 --> 01:11:41.880] their own sense of morality and what's right versus wrong. [01:11:41.880 --> 01:11:48.440] And just what do I have a right to do versus what do I not have a right to do? [01:11:48.440 --> 01:11:53.640] And so in these types of situations, I say the parent needs to get to the bottom of it, [01:11:53.640 --> 01:11:54.640] okay. [01:11:54.640 --> 01:11:55.640] And find out who started the fight. [01:11:55.640 --> 01:11:56.640] All right. [01:11:56.640 --> 01:12:01.480] And if my kid, and if hopefully if I had raised him properly or her properly and was honest [01:12:01.480 --> 01:12:05.920] with me and said, I'm telling you the truth, mom, he started it. [01:12:05.920 --> 01:12:07.480] He came up and shoved me. [01:12:07.480 --> 01:12:12.440] He came up and cold cock me from behind in that stupid knockout game that the kids like [01:12:12.440 --> 01:12:13.440] to play. [01:12:13.440 --> 01:12:14.440] Hey, you know what? [01:12:14.440 --> 01:12:16.760] I got up and I walloped him. [01:12:16.760 --> 01:12:20.240] I would say, you know what, son, you did a good thing. [01:12:20.240 --> 01:12:21.240] Good for you. [01:12:21.240 --> 01:12:23.200] You stood up for yourself and you defended yourself. [01:12:23.200 --> 01:12:28.240] And if the school was trying to come down on my kid for defending himself, let me tell [01:12:28.240 --> 01:12:32.680] you what, I'd be going down there and reading the riot act to the school. [01:12:32.680 --> 01:12:35.720] And I don't think that my kid would be pissed off about that. [01:12:35.720 --> 01:12:36.720] All right. [01:12:36.720 --> 01:12:40.440] And if it was the other, you know, but you see, you have to analyze the situation and [01:12:40.440 --> 01:12:42.320] take it on a case by case basis. [01:12:42.320 --> 01:12:47.160] And if my, if I finally got the truth out of my kid that he started it, that my kids [01:12:47.160 --> 01:12:48.880] started, I'd be like, you know what? [01:12:48.880 --> 01:12:49.880] You're on your own son. [01:12:49.880 --> 01:12:53.320] I ain't helping you because you shouldn't have started the fight. [01:12:53.320 --> 01:12:54.320] Okay. [01:12:54.320 --> 01:13:00.400] We've got to, we've got to, to wake up people and get out of, of this, this, this haze. [01:13:00.400 --> 01:13:01.400] It's like a daze. [01:13:01.400 --> 01:13:05.800] It's like a fog, you know, the, the, this indoctrination of this collectivist mindset [01:13:05.800 --> 01:13:06.800] man. [01:13:06.800 --> 01:13:07.800] All right. [01:13:07.800 --> 01:13:08.800] Anyways. [01:13:08.800 --> 01:13:14.560] I'm just saying, Randy, I understand your point, but the game has changed in the schools [01:13:14.560 --> 01:13:15.560] these days. [01:13:15.560 --> 01:13:16.560] All right. [01:13:16.560 --> 01:13:19.160] It is a different scenario. [01:13:19.160 --> 01:13:24.460] I went to school at Tule High School in inner city in Chicago. [01:13:24.460 --> 01:13:30.440] My first day at school, I was walking beside the building and someone came sailing out [01:13:30.440 --> 01:13:36.040] of the third floor window and landed on the sidewalk in front of me. [01:13:36.040 --> 01:13:39.120] They had barriers inside the school. [01:13:39.120 --> 01:13:43.160] They could hit a button and it would block the school off into sections. [01:13:43.160 --> 01:13:48.440] The cops walked the halls with their guns in their hands. [01:13:48.440 --> 01:13:55.200] How are the teachers supposed to teach curriculum? [01:13:55.200 --> 01:14:04.320] If you're now going to ask them to teach the children how to behave in a civilized society, [01:14:04.320 --> 01:14:09.680] a job that the parents are supposed to do and the teachers do not have the tools to [01:14:09.680 --> 01:14:10.680] do that with. [01:14:10.680 --> 01:14:13.440] Hey, I'm not saying the teachers need to do anything. [01:14:13.440 --> 01:14:15.480] I'm talking about the parent here. [01:14:15.480 --> 01:14:21.560] Let the kids beat themselves bloody or call the police and have to let the police arrest [01:14:21.560 --> 01:14:24.320] them and handle it. [01:14:24.320 --> 01:14:32.760] The schools are trying to find a way to find a middle ground and say to the kids, wait [01:14:32.760 --> 01:14:36.920] a minute, wait a minute, find a different way. [01:14:36.920 --> 01:14:41.320] If somebody's bullying, come to us and tell us they're bullying. [01:14:41.320 --> 01:14:45.200] Kids don't like to tell on each other. [01:14:45.200 --> 01:14:49.720] They take the bullying and until they fight back, well, what are the teachers supposed [01:14:49.720 --> 01:14:50.720] to do? [01:14:50.720 --> 01:14:56.880] Kill themselves, kill each other and then sit down and hold courts and you've got 20 [01:14:56.880 --> 01:15:01.360] kids on this side blaming this one, 20 kids on that side blaming the other one. [01:15:01.360 --> 01:15:02.880] You know what? [01:15:02.880 --> 01:15:08.800] If they handle it however they want to handle it, but I tell you what, if I was the parent [01:15:08.800 --> 01:15:15.960] and I know that my kid acted in self-defense, I would cram it up their backside all the [01:15:15.960 --> 01:15:21.080] way from here until kingdom come and I would do the same thing to the police because the [01:15:21.080 --> 01:15:26.200] police have no, I mean, it's ridiculous. [01:15:26.200 --> 01:15:33.560] You can't go along with letting the cops punish you or your kids for defending yourself because [01:15:33.560 --> 01:15:36.840] then we create a society of bullies. [01:15:36.840 --> 01:15:41.120] We create a society that is exactly what you were describing with the kids beaten up on [01:15:41.120 --> 01:15:45.760] each other all the time because then what would happen is that those who are authoritarian [01:15:45.760 --> 01:15:49.960] psychopaths are going to go around beaten up on everybody and everybody else is just [01:15:49.960 --> 01:15:53.480] going to be curled up in a fetal position with their brains smashed in. [01:15:53.480 --> 01:15:54.480] Wait a minute. [01:15:54.480 --> 01:15:55.480] Wait a minute. [01:15:55.480 --> 01:15:56.480] Hold on. [01:15:56.480 --> 01:15:59.760] Which by the way is exactly what's happening on the streets of our cities today. [01:15:59.760 --> 01:16:01.080] Wait a minute. [01:16:01.080 --> 01:16:02.080] This is not new. [01:16:02.080 --> 01:16:07.960] I went to high school 40 years ago and they had exactly the same policy. [01:16:07.960 --> 01:16:10.200] Don't fight. [01:16:10.200 --> 01:16:14.440] If you're going to fight, you're going to be punished. [01:16:14.440 --> 01:16:17.360] Find a different way of handling this. [01:16:17.360 --> 01:16:18.360] Come to us. [01:16:18.360 --> 01:16:19.360] Handle it. [01:16:19.360 --> 01:16:20.720] Don't get in a fight out there. [01:16:20.720 --> 01:16:21.720] Okay. [01:16:21.720 --> 01:16:22.720] But see, here's the difference. [01:16:22.720 --> 01:16:23.720] That was 40 years ago. [01:16:23.720 --> 01:16:24.720] But see, here's the thing. [01:16:24.720 --> 01:16:31.320] Their definition of fight is laying in a fetal position with your brain bashed in. [01:16:31.320 --> 01:16:38.880] I saw this for myself even with other people and it's like, hey, you can't even run away [01:16:38.880 --> 01:16:42.080] from some of these bullies because they'll chase you down. [01:16:42.080 --> 01:16:43.080] All right. [01:16:43.080 --> 01:16:46.880] There's nothing that you can do. [01:16:46.880 --> 01:16:49.880] Their definition of fighting is ridiculous. [01:16:49.880 --> 01:16:50.880] That's... [01:16:50.880 --> 01:16:51.880] Okay. [01:16:51.880 --> 01:16:52.880] Hang on. [01:16:52.880 --> 01:16:53.880] We'll be right back. [01:19:44.080 --> 01:19:45.080] Randy Kelton, Deborah Stevens. [01:19:45.080 --> 01:19:51.280] Now, Steve Skidmore, that chicken, he is running ahead. [01:19:51.280 --> 01:19:53.520] I don't hear a peep out of him. [01:19:53.520 --> 01:19:57.960] I'm keeping my head down and my mouth shut. [01:19:57.960 --> 01:19:58.960] Okay. [01:19:58.960 --> 01:20:02.480] I'm going to take the position. [01:20:02.480 --> 01:20:07.520] I know a number of teachers and I grew up in the inner city. [01:20:07.520 --> 01:20:11.680] I grew up in what they call the mean streets. [01:20:11.680 --> 01:20:17.240] It was inner city in Chicago and it was really, really a bad neighborhood. [01:20:17.240 --> 01:20:19.840] About as bad as they get. [01:20:19.840 --> 01:20:28.920] We had teachers in these schools that I personally thought they were out of their minds for even [01:20:28.920 --> 01:20:31.080] coming here. [01:20:31.080 --> 01:20:39.080] Why on earth would they come to this rat hole and try to teach these kids when everybody [01:20:39.080 --> 01:20:43.320] here was absolutely berserk? [01:20:43.320 --> 01:20:50.600] My first day in high school, the school I went to was Tule High and a lot of you older [01:20:50.600 --> 01:21:00.960] folks out there may remember a movie called Cooley High, C-U-L-E-Y. [01:21:00.960 --> 01:21:05.680] It was about a really, really rough inner city high school. [01:21:05.680 --> 01:21:10.280] Well, it was actually Tule High, T-U-L-E-Y, and I went to it. [01:21:10.280 --> 01:21:11.280] They had barriers. [01:21:11.280 --> 01:21:16.280] They could push a button and these barriers would block off sections of the school to [01:21:16.280 --> 01:21:19.600] keep riots from occurring. [01:21:19.600 --> 01:21:25.080] These teachers are struggling to try to keep some kind of order. [01:21:25.080 --> 01:21:34.720] Now, granted, this was an extreme case of where parents had not taught their children [01:21:34.720 --> 01:21:40.800] how to behave in a civilized society, so what are they to do? [01:21:40.800 --> 01:21:49.440] The schools are always, the children are always in factions, and when something occurred where [01:21:49.440 --> 01:21:59.400] there was an obvious perpetrator, they were very good about taking action against a perpetrator, [01:21:59.400 --> 01:22:03.760] but most of the time it was always shades of gray. [01:22:03.760 --> 01:22:11.160] These teachers are struggling trying to teach these kids and spending most of their time [01:22:11.160 --> 01:22:17.560] dealing with discipline, and they finally said, enough of this. [01:22:17.560 --> 01:22:23.280] If you have a problem with a bully, you need to come to us, but if you try to take care [01:22:23.280 --> 01:22:27.680] of that bully yourself, then you're part of the problem. [01:22:27.680 --> 01:22:28.680] Okay. [01:22:28.680 --> 01:22:31.600] Well, Randy, look, let me explain something. [01:22:31.600 --> 01:22:38.760] It's just like with the Trayvon Martin situation, all right, you got a guy who's pounding down [01:22:38.760 --> 01:22:46.640] on him, busting his head into the concrete, and from what the witness testimony said, [01:22:46.640 --> 01:22:49.360] Trayvon Martin was about to kill George Zimmerman. [01:22:49.360 --> 01:22:55.080] He was about to literally pound him into his grave, and Zimmerman had no choice but to [01:22:55.080 --> 01:22:58.520] defend himself, and in that situation he had a firearm. [01:22:58.520 --> 01:23:00.080] What are we supposed to do? [01:23:00.080 --> 01:23:04.840] Let our sons and daughters die or get brain damage or get their teeth knocked out from [01:23:04.840 --> 01:23:10.440] a bully when they're getting pounded into the ground and they cannot defend themselves. [01:23:10.440 --> 01:23:14.040] Even if they just curl up in a fetal position, they're still going to be accused of quote [01:23:14.040 --> 01:23:16.760] unquote fighting because they're involved in an altercation. [01:23:16.760 --> 01:23:21.640] Let me tell you something, here's another situation that has changed, and I understand [01:23:21.640 --> 01:23:26.280] maybe the policy back in the days where you had your kids in school, it was still there, [01:23:26.280 --> 01:23:30.280] but it wasn't as enforced the way it is now, okay? [01:23:30.280 --> 01:23:32.120] Here's something else that's different. [01:23:32.120 --> 01:23:34.000] There's cameras everywhere, okay? [01:23:34.000 --> 01:23:38.560] They can't lie, or they can try to lie, but they can't just sit here and say, he started, [01:23:38.560 --> 01:23:42.760] no he started, no she started, no she started, and it's just one kid's word against another [01:23:42.760 --> 01:23:46.760] or 20 kids' words against another 20 kids' words. [01:23:46.760 --> 01:23:52.040] There are video cameras, surveillance cameras, everything is recorded in these schools 24 [01:23:52.040 --> 01:23:55.680] 7 all the time in all the classrooms, in the hallways, in the bathrooms. [01:23:55.680 --> 01:23:59.680] We've got cameras in the freaking stalls of the bathrooms and the showers and the locker [01:23:59.680 --> 01:24:01.000] rooms and everything. [01:24:01.000 --> 01:24:05.000] There's been so much controversy over this all around the schoolyard. [01:24:05.000 --> 01:24:07.640] It's like the inside of a jail, okay? [01:24:07.640 --> 01:24:11.480] When fights break out in jails, they know exactly who started it. [01:24:11.480 --> 01:24:13.000] They know everything that happens. [01:24:13.000 --> 01:24:14.640] It's the same thing inside a school. [01:24:14.640 --> 01:24:20.320] There is no excuse for these policies because everything is surveilled and videotaped. [01:24:20.320 --> 01:24:24.080] It's obvious who started it every single time. [01:24:24.080 --> 01:24:25.080] This is crazy. [01:24:25.080 --> 01:24:26.600] We've got to stand up to this. [01:24:26.600 --> 01:24:27.600] We've got to put an end to it. [01:24:27.600 --> 01:24:28.840] We've got to stop it, Randy. [01:24:28.840 --> 01:24:30.520] It is absolutely a nightmare. [01:24:30.520 --> 01:24:34.760] If we go along with your philosophy of saying, well, it's just too much trouble. [01:24:34.760 --> 01:24:36.240] What are the teachers supposed to do? [01:24:36.240 --> 01:24:37.240] How are they supposed to handle it? [01:24:37.240 --> 01:24:40.320] All we can do is just say, oh, we just punish everybody. [01:24:40.320 --> 01:24:46.840] Imagine how that would translate into our court systems if that was the policy that [01:24:46.840 --> 01:24:49.120] was implemented with due process. [01:24:49.120 --> 01:24:52.640] Oh, well, it's just too much trouble. [01:24:52.640 --> 01:24:54.640] There's too many court cases. [01:24:54.640 --> 01:24:58.280] The court systems aren't going to function efficiently enough. [01:24:58.280 --> 01:24:59.280] Just screw it. [01:24:59.280 --> 01:25:00.280] Everybody's guilty. [01:25:00.280 --> 01:25:03.280] I mean, come on. [01:25:03.280 --> 01:25:04.280] False generalization. [01:25:04.280 --> 01:25:10.560] No, I don't think so. [01:25:10.560 --> 01:25:21.480] How can you... I had a really good retort and you got past it. [01:25:21.480 --> 01:25:29.480] If I throw two cents in here, my mom and dad raised me in a house and they taught me that [01:25:29.480 --> 01:25:35.240] it takes more of a man to walk away from a fight than it does to throw a punch. [01:25:35.240 --> 01:25:38.740] In philosophy, this all sounds wonderful. [01:25:38.740 --> 01:25:45.680] In school, it got my butt whipped about three times on a daily basis until I finally put [01:25:45.680 --> 01:25:46.840] an end to it myself. [01:25:46.840 --> 01:25:54.320] I went absolutely nuts on a guy and it stopped. [01:25:54.320 --> 01:25:58.360] All the bullying stopped. [01:25:58.360 --> 01:25:59.840] That's my two cents. [01:25:59.840 --> 01:26:04.860] Yeah, and that's a valuable two cents. [01:26:04.860 --> 01:26:13.100] My position is that we need to teach the kids how things work in the real world. [01:26:13.100 --> 01:26:19.320] If you shoot somebody on your front porch who's trying to break into your house, you're [01:26:19.320 --> 01:26:25.240] going to be prosecuted and you're going to have to prove that you had good cause to shoot [01:26:25.240 --> 01:26:28.240] him. [01:26:28.240 --> 01:26:32.920] The police are not going to come by and say, oh, well, he was on your porch, so you can [01:26:32.920 --> 01:26:34.040] just shoot him. [01:26:34.040 --> 01:26:43.000] You can just take whatever action you want to and we won't raise any question. [01:26:43.000 --> 01:26:49.960] In the real world we live in, if you start a fight with me and I defend myself and beat [01:26:49.960 --> 01:26:54.800] you up, I'm going to be prosecuted. [01:26:54.800 --> 01:26:59.400] That's how it works in the world I live in. [01:26:59.400 --> 01:27:07.880] That's how it works in the schools are doing the best they can to find a way to keep these [01:27:07.880 --> 01:27:21.400] issues from occurring in the schools I grew up in, and granted it was extreme, but in [01:27:21.400 --> 01:27:25.560] this extreme that was their position. [01:27:25.560 --> 01:27:27.880] We got people fighting all over it. [01:27:27.880 --> 01:27:29.320] We got to get this under control. [01:27:29.320 --> 01:27:35.920] We can't come in and say, okay, you can beat this guy up because he did something that [01:27:35.920 --> 01:27:43.880] was reasonable for you to take offense to, and they said, no, no, you don't get to do [01:27:43.880 --> 01:27:44.880] that. [01:27:44.880 --> 01:27:46.320] No, nobody ever gets to do that. [01:27:46.320 --> 01:27:52.280] What people get to do is defend themselves and if somebody is cold cocking me and trying [01:27:52.280 --> 01:27:57.600] to knock my teeth out or if I had a daughter or a son and a bully was in the process of [01:27:57.600 --> 01:28:03.120] beating him in the face and about to knock his teeth or her teeth out, I would have already [01:28:03.120 --> 01:28:09.880] instructed my child, you better figure out how to block and get them off of you or something [01:28:09.880 --> 01:28:15.320] or put them down and temporarily disable them so you can get away because I don't want to [01:28:15.320 --> 01:28:21.240] have to pay $10,000 in orthodontal bills to give them dental implants because they're [01:28:21.240 --> 01:28:27.240] listening to some dumb ass school policy that says it doesn't matter who started the fight [01:28:27.240 --> 01:28:28.240] or worse. [01:28:28.240 --> 01:28:34.240] A kid could end up in a coma, Randy, somebody could get killed and get brain damaged if [01:28:34.240 --> 01:28:37.440] they just sit there and let somebody beat up on them enough. [01:28:37.440 --> 01:28:40.120] You get concussions, you get brain damage, I don't know, right? [01:28:40.120 --> 01:28:41.600] That's an errant distortion. [01:28:41.600 --> 01:28:44.480] No, this is what happens. [01:28:44.480 --> 01:28:48.840] How much evidence do we have of kids beating kids to death in schools? [01:28:48.840 --> 01:28:52.520] I don't know, but the point is it doesn't take much, Randy. [01:28:52.520 --> 01:28:53.520] It doesn't take much. [01:28:53.520 --> 01:28:54.520] I haven't heard of that. [01:28:54.520 --> 01:28:56.360] There's people coming in from the outside. [01:28:56.360 --> 01:29:03.880] I can't go for saying it's okay to let people beat up on you. [01:29:03.880 --> 01:29:07.320] Whoever starts it is in the wrong, period, end of story. [01:29:07.320 --> 01:29:11.080] But this is not about the school policy. [01:29:11.080 --> 01:29:19.260] This is about how parents are going to handle the school policy that is teaching these kids [01:29:19.260 --> 01:29:22.200] that they don't have a right to defend themselves. [01:29:22.200 --> 01:29:23.560] That is the issue. [01:29:23.560 --> 01:29:30.320] How do the parents deal with the schools regarding this situation? [01:29:30.320 --> 01:29:36.120] And actually, we have a listener who has dealt with the schools regarding this situation [01:29:36.120 --> 01:29:43.360] and has won the issue on the side of the right. [01:29:43.360 --> 01:29:44.360] Is he on the board? [01:29:44.360 --> 01:29:45.360] He's fixing to be on the board. [01:29:45.360 --> 01:29:46.360] He's going to call in just a minute. [01:29:46.360 --> 01:29:47.360] Okay. [01:29:47.360 --> 01:29:49.320] We'll pick him up when we come back on the other side. [01:29:49.320 --> 01:29:53.240] Patrick, Tommy, Kevin, we will try to get to everybody. [01:29:53.240 --> 01:29:54.240] Hang on. [01:29:54.240 --> 01:30:04.680] Randy Kelton, Debra Stevens, Rule of Law Radio, we'll be right back. [01:30:04.680 --> 01:30:08.840] We've all heard that laughter is the best medicine for what ails us, but now scientists [01:30:08.840 --> 01:30:11.800] have proved it really does relieve allergies and pain. [01:30:11.800 --> 01:30:15.760] I'm Dr. Catherine Albrecht, and in a moment, I'll tell you how. [01:30:15.760 --> 01:30:17.360] Privacy is under attack. [01:30:17.360 --> 01:30:20.960] When you give up data about yourself, you'll never get it back again. [01:30:20.960 --> 01:30:25.760] And once your privacy is gone, you'll find your freedoms will start to vanish, too. [01:30:25.760 --> 01:30:30.880] So protect your rights, say no to surveillance, and keep your information to yourself. [01:30:30.880 --> 01:30:33.520] Privacy, it's worth hanging on to. [01:30:33.520 --> 01:30:37.800] This public service announcement is brought to you by StartPage.com, the private search [01:30:37.800 --> 01:30:41.320] engine alternative to Google, Yahoo, and Bing. [01:30:41.320 --> 01:30:43.120] Start over with StartPage. [01:30:43.120 --> 01:30:48.240] Hoot, whoop, chortle, or giggle, however you laugh, keep it up. [01:30:48.240 --> 01:30:51.400] Science has confirmed a barrel of laughs is good for the body. [01:30:51.400 --> 01:30:55.840] New studies show laughter releases feel-good brain chemicals called endorphins that can [01:30:55.840 --> 01:30:59.840] alleviate arthritis, allergy symptoms, and pain. [01:30:59.840 --> 01:31:04.240] Researchers tested volunteers' pain thresholds, then had them watch a comedy show like Mr. [01:31:04.240 --> 01:31:05.240] Bean. [01:31:05.240 --> 01:31:09.560] After just 15 minutes, their pain thresholds improved by 10%. [01:31:09.560 --> 01:31:14.400] And when allergy sufferers watched a classic Charlie Chaplin movie, their symptoms dropped [01:31:14.400 --> 01:31:16.520] by a whopping two-thirds. [01:31:16.520 --> 01:31:21.280] So here's a new motto for good health, a giggle a day keeps the doctor away. [01:31:21.280 --> 01:31:23.000] I'm Dr. Catherine Albrecht. [01:31:23.000 --> 01:31:30.800] More news and information at CatherineAlbrecht.com. [01:31:30.800 --> 01:31:31.800] I lost my son. [01:31:31.800 --> 01:31:32.800] My nephew. [01:31:32.800 --> 01:31:33.800] My uncle. [01:31:33.800 --> 01:31:34.800] My son. [01:31:34.800 --> 01:31:35.800] On September 11th, 2001. [01:31:35.800 --> 01:31:39.080] Most people don't know that a third tower fell on September 11th. [01:31:39.080 --> 01:31:43.200] World Trade Center 7, a 47-story skyscraper, was not hit by a plane. [01:31:43.200 --> 01:31:49.040] Although the official explanation is that fire brought down Building 7, over 1,200 architects [01:31:49.040 --> 01:31:52.840] and engineers have looked into the evidence and believe there is more to the story. [01:31:52.840 --> 01:31:54.280] Bring justice to my son. [01:31:54.280 --> 01:31:55.280] My uncle. [01:31:55.280 --> 01:31:56.280] My nephew. [01:31:56.280 --> 01:31:57.280] My son. [01:31:57.280 --> 01:31:58.280] Go to buildingwhat.org. [01:31:58.280 --> 01:32:01.600] Why it fell, why it matters, and what you can do. [01:32:01.600 --> 01:32:05.080] Doctors don't want you to know about iodine because it allows the body to heal itself [01:32:05.080 --> 01:32:07.040] quickly and permanently. [01:32:07.040 --> 01:32:12.000] Iodine now is a complete powder formulation that will load iodine into the body with vitamin [01:32:12.000 --> 01:32:18.320] C. For the best possible absorption, iodine now, available by the case, and for protection [01:32:18.320 --> 01:32:23.440] from radiation, fluoride, chlorine, and bromine, including all heavy metals. [01:32:23.440 --> 01:32:28.000] We believe that this is the main element that humans need more than any other at this time. [01:32:28.000 --> 01:32:32.880] This formulation is infused with our bioactive aerobic rare earth nutrient powder that has [01:32:32.880 --> 01:32:36.480] a powerful negative charge that attracts positive toxins. [01:32:36.480 --> 01:32:41.560] Why not buy one product that does the job of 20 and saves you space, time, and money? [01:32:41.560 --> 01:32:46.120] It's a storage life of 100 years, all for about $18 a month. [01:32:46.120 --> 01:32:50.920] Call 888-910-4367 or visit HempUSA.org. [01:32:50.920 --> 01:32:57.120] Call 888-910-4367, bringing back the universal medicine for mankind. [01:32:57.120 --> 01:33:12.560] Call 888-910-4367 right now, only at HempUSA.org. [01:33:12.560 --> 01:33:27.960] Call 888-910-4367 right now, only at HempUSA.org. [01:33:27.960 --> 01:33:44.400] Call 888-910-4367 right now, only at HempUSA.org. [01:33:44.400 --> 01:33:45.400] Okay folks, we are back. [01:33:45.400 --> 01:33:50.680] This is the rule of law, and sorry to the callers who called in about some other subject, [01:33:50.680 --> 01:33:52.840] but this is a really important issue. [01:33:52.840 --> 01:34:00.760] Okay, we have got to be able to figure out how we are going to deal with this situation. [01:34:00.760 --> 01:34:05.480] Now again, I want to reiterate, this isn't about the school policy. [01:34:05.480 --> 01:34:07.400] We all know it is completely messed up. [01:34:07.400 --> 01:34:09.520] It's built on the Prussian model. [01:34:09.520 --> 01:34:13.280] Parents need to get their kids out of these government indoctrination propaganda systems [01:34:13.280 --> 01:34:18.600] anyway, because nowadays they have homeschooling co-ops, and it's just like dropping your kid [01:34:18.600 --> 01:34:25.400] off at school as if it was a government indoctrination mechanism, except you get to control the curriculum [01:34:25.400 --> 01:34:30.920] and they are not getting indoctrinated with a bunch of collectivist, evil, filth, puke [01:34:30.920 --> 01:34:31.920] philosophy. [01:34:31.920 --> 01:34:37.000] At any rate, if you can't do that because of wherever you live, there is not a homeschooling [01:34:37.000 --> 01:34:41.720] co-op or whatever, and you have to deal with this Prussian system that is being foisted [01:34:41.720 --> 01:34:48.120] upon us, it's not about changing it necessarily, because I don't think we are going to be able [01:34:48.120 --> 01:34:52.760] to change it, but it's about teaching your kids the basic difference between right and [01:34:52.760 --> 01:34:57.440] wrong, and you don't initiate the aggression, and you walk away from the fight if you can, [01:34:57.440 --> 01:35:03.800] like what Steve was saying, but if you can't, you don't let your face get bashed in either. [01:35:03.800 --> 01:35:10.320] It's about how do the parents deal with this policy in these schools, and we have a caller [01:35:10.320 --> 01:35:17.280] on the line, Johnny from Texas, who has apparently successfully been able to deal with this madness [01:35:17.280 --> 01:35:22.240] in the schools of this policy of it doesn't matter who starts the fight. [01:35:22.240 --> 01:35:24.560] Johnny, thanks for calling in on this issue. [01:35:24.560 --> 01:35:28.400] Can you please give us a little insight on how you were able to deal with the school [01:35:28.400 --> 01:35:29.400] system? [01:35:29.400 --> 01:35:35.760] Yeah, I can do that, but before I do, I have to rib Randy a little bit for you backing [01:35:35.760 --> 01:35:38.800] him into a corner just a few minutes ago. [01:35:38.800 --> 01:35:40.280] Okay. [01:35:40.280 --> 01:35:52.080] No, I had an issue a few years back where my daughter was being bullied. [01:35:52.080 --> 01:35:58.400] She was being bullied by the same boy for over two years straight, and I had discussions [01:35:58.400 --> 01:36:04.480] with the school administrators about it and everything else, and he wasn't like hitting [01:36:04.480 --> 01:36:10.000] her or starting fights with her, but he was always... He broke her glasses three times [01:36:10.000 --> 01:36:15.720] and during PE, he would throw the dodge ball at her and make her hit herself in the face [01:36:15.720 --> 01:36:20.400] with a tennis racket and things like that. [01:36:20.400 --> 01:36:22.720] She had a third year into it. [01:36:22.720 --> 01:36:28.720] He broke her third pair of glasses that she just got, and she snapped, and she jumped [01:36:28.720 --> 01:36:32.640] on him and pretty much pounded the crap out of him. [01:36:32.640 --> 01:36:38.040] When one of the teachers tried to pull her off, they really had to calm her down. [01:36:38.040 --> 01:36:43.600] She was apparently one fight teacher too, and so we had a school conference and me and [01:36:43.600 --> 01:36:51.240] my daughter and a couple of school officials and the other parent and his son, and I reminded [01:36:51.240 --> 01:36:55.040] them of the conversations that we had had over the past couple of years with him picking [01:36:55.040 --> 01:36:59.900] on her, and they would not do anything about it, and I told her that she has the right [01:36:59.900 --> 01:37:01.000] to defend herself. [01:37:01.000 --> 01:37:07.600] She better not ever start a fight, but she has the right to defend herself, and that's [01:37:07.600 --> 01:37:12.920] what I told her, and that's how it's going to be, and then they started telling me, well, [01:37:12.920 --> 01:37:17.000] our school policy says this and that, and for about the first 20 minutes of the conversation, [01:37:17.000 --> 01:37:27.800] they kept falling back on policy, and I had to really show them how and why they treat [01:37:27.800 --> 01:37:33.440] their internal policy as law, and I had to sit them down and show them, look, you have [01:37:33.440 --> 01:37:37.800] the education code, which was set out by the legislature, which is law, which you guys [01:37:37.800 --> 01:37:44.440] have to abide by, and then you have your own internal policies that your unelected officials [01:37:44.440 --> 01:37:45.440] put together. [01:37:45.440 --> 01:37:49.200] They're not legislators, and that's your policy. [01:37:49.200 --> 01:37:55.800] If that's what you guys want to abide by, that's fine, but it's not law, and she acted [01:37:55.800 --> 01:37:59.920] within law, and they said, oh no, she signed an agreement, which I'm the type of parent [01:37:59.920 --> 01:38:06.160] that I pretty routinely read homework and think that the school's asking for her to [01:38:06.160 --> 01:38:12.800] sign and things like that, and every year they always want her to sign an agreement. [01:38:12.800 --> 01:38:15.560] Basically, it's just something to be effective. [01:38:15.560 --> 01:38:22.000] I agree to abide at all times with all school policies on and off campus and all that stuff, [01:38:22.000 --> 01:38:29.600] and we've always amended it, saying without prejudice, standing rights, and they've never [01:38:29.600 --> 01:38:30.600] said anything about it. [01:38:30.600 --> 01:38:34.040] I had them go pull that copy because they were trying to say, well, you know, whether [01:38:34.040 --> 01:38:36.960] our policy is law or not, she agreed with us. [01:38:36.960 --> 01:38:37.960] She signed the thing. [01:38:37.960 --> 01:38:39.920] I said, you need to go pull that out of her file and look what it says. [01:38:39.920 --> 01:38:46.800] We made some amendments to it, and you accepted it, and basically just had to... I basically [01:38:46.800 --> 01:38:52.200] convinced them that if she started to fight, I expect her to be in trouble, expelled, whatever [01:38:52.200 --> 01:38:56.440] their policy says, as long as they do not violate any of her rights in the process. [01:38:56.440 --> 01:39:00.360] I don't expect... This kid's been picking on her for three years, he's cost me 800 bucks [01:39:00.360 --> 01:39:07.760] having to buy glasses, and she's had enough, and she has the right to defend herself. [01:39:07.760 --> 01:39:11.120] If somebody picks on her and she tries to walk away and they continue, she has the right [01:39:11.120 --> 01:39:15.560] to defend herself, and if you guys in any way interfere with or impede her exercise [01:39:15.560 --> 01:39:18.760] of that right, we're going to go to court and we're going to talk about it for a long [01:39:18.760 --> 01:39:25.600] time and get it from things adjudicated, and they understood that, and they ended up expelling [01:39:25.600 --> 01:39:30.960] the boy for a week, which was not my intent, and I felt bad about that, and they didn't [01:39:30.960 --> 01:39:32.800] say another word to her about it. [01:39:32.800 --> 01:39:34.520] Well, good for you, Johnny. [01:39:34.520 --> 01:39:35.520] That is- [01:39:35.520 --> 01:39:39.440] The main thing, really the main point I want to make is I've been listening to you and [01:39:39.440 --> 01:39:46.920] Randy talk about this, and you guys are seeing it through the eyes of adults, and I had some [01:39:46.920 --> 01:39:52.800] pretty in-depth conversation with my daughter about this boy picking on her, and that's [01:39:52.800 --> 01:39:56.240] one of the things that she said, and I can kind of see it through a child's eyes. [01:39:56.240 --> 01:40:05.240] I remember the school code and all that stuff, and that's one thing she was telling me. [01:40:05.240 --> 01:40:09.840] Let me take exception. [01:40:09.840 --> 01:40:20.840] I grew up in an inner-city school in a neighborhood that was originally Polish, and while we lived [01:40:20.840 --> 01:40:27.680] there, it changed primarily to Puerto Rican, and I got the crap beat out of me every other [01:40:27.680 --> 01:40:29.480] day. [01:40:29.480 --> 01:40:32.920] I fully understand these issues. [01:40:32.920 --> 01:40:41.360] I fully understand the position that the children are in. [01:40:41.360 --> 01:40:42.680] It's a difficult situation. [01:40:42.680 --> 01:40:43.680] I was there. [01:40:43.680 --> 01:40:45.520] I lived through it. [01:40:45.520 --> 01:40:56.800] I had a kid in the eighth grade that was 16 or 15 or 16 and in the eighth grade, and he [01:40:56.800 --> 01:41:04.080] beat the crap out of me every other day, and it wasn't until I got my older brother and [01:41:04.080 --> 01:41:10.520] my twin brother, and we caught him coming out of school, and we did our best to beat [01:41:10.520 --> 01:41:15.280] him half to death, and that put an end to that. [01:41:15.280 --> 01:41:24.680] But had we not waited until school was out, we would have been prosecuted for that, and [01:41:24.680 --> 01:41:26.560] we knew that would happen. [01:41:26.560 --> 01:41:28.200] This is a difficult situation. [01:41:28.200 --> 01:41:30.960] Okay, so Johnny, what were you going to- [01:41:30.960 --> 01:41:41.400] There's no easy, just blanket answer, and the teachers are not just socialist pigs trying [01:41:41.400 --> 01:41:42.400] to indoctrinate our children. [01:41:42.400 --> 01:41:43.720] Okay, no, this isn't about the teachers. [01:41:43.720 --> 01:41:46.320] The teachers are cogs in the wheel, too. [01:41:46.320 --> 01:41:48.800] They don't know that they're implementing this socialist agenda. [01:41:48.800 --> 01:41:53.120] Wait, hold on, Johnny, what were you going to say about the kids? [01:41:53.120 --> 01:41:56.960] You were saying that we are seeing this through the eyes of the adult, but you were about [01:41:56.960 --> 01:41:58.160] to say something about your daughter. [01:41:58.160 --> 01:42:00.320] I wanted you to finish real quick. [01:42:00.320 --> 01:42:06.040] Yeah, and Randy, based on what you articulated in your exception, you will understand exactly [01:42:06.040 --> 01:42:10.160] the point that I was about to make, which is, and this is what she told me. [01:42:10.160 --> 01:42:15.520] She said, if he's picking on me, the school wants me to go tell, and they say that I have [01:42:15.520 --> 01:42:16.520] to go tell. [01:42:16.520 --> 01:42:22.260] But every time somebody does that, they become a target for all the bullies in the school. [01:42:22.260 --> 01:42:25.200] On the other side of the coin, if- [01:42:25.200 --> 01:42:26.200] No, stop. [01:42:26.200 --> 01:42:27.200] No, they don't. [01:42:27.200 --> 01:42:28.200] That is horse manure. [01:42:28.200 --> 01:42:29.200] I don't think so. [01:42:29.200 --> 01:42:34.080] They do not become the target. [01:42:34.080 --> 01:42:43.680] I grew up in some of the worst schools in inner city in Chicago, and they do not become [01:42:43.680 --> 01:42:46.280] the target for everybody. [01:42:46.280 --> 01:42:53.800] They take a lot of teasing, a lot of finger pointing, but they don't get messed with. [01:42:53.800 --> 01:43:02.640] It really does work when you go to the, it's just a image thing that you're a tattletale. [01:43:02.640 --> 01:43:08.680] Okay, well, Randy, just because it worked in your school doesn't mean that it works [01:43:08.680 --> 01:43:10.720] in every school. [01:43:10.720 --> 01:43:18.480] This is the real world, and in the real world, everything has consequences. [01:43:18.480 --> 01:43:25.840] When you defend yourself, it has consequences, and you have to understand it has consequences. [01:43:25.840 --> 01:43:30.960] Okay, well, yeah, and the consequences in certain situations, Randy, if it were me or [01:43:30.960 --> 01:43:35.640] my daughter, I wouldn't instruct my daughter to wait until her teeth were bashed in, until [01:43:35.640 --> 01:43:40.240] the bully was done with her and got tired and walked away before she went and told the [01:43:40.240 --> 01:43:45.000] teacher, hey, by the way, this other kid knocked my teeth out. [01:43:45.000 --> 01:43:46.000] Excuse me. [01:43:46.000 --> 01:43:52.440] At some point, you have to do something to defend your wellbeing, okay? [01:43:52.440 --> 01:43:53.440] It's a little bit ridiculous. [01:43:53.440 --> 01:43:54.440] We'll be right back. [01:43:54.440 --> 01:43:55.440] We'll be right back. [01:43:55.440 --> 01:44:03.720] Do you feel tired when talking about important topics like money and politics? [01:44:03.720 --> 01:44:04.720] Sorry. [01:44:04.720 --> 01:44:07.600] Are you confused by words like the Constitution or the Federal Reserve? [01:44:07.600 --> 01:44:08.600] What? [01:44:08.600 --> 01:44:12.440] If so, you may be diagnosed with the deadliest disease known today, stupidity. [01:44:12.440 --> 01:44:17.920] Hi, my name is Steve Holt, and like millions of other Americans, I was diagnosed with stupidity [01:44:17.920 --> 01:44:19.120] at an early age. [01:44:19.120 --> 01:44:23.120] I had no idea that the number one cause of the disease is found in almost every home [01:44:23.120 --> 01:44:25.560] in America, the television. [01:44:25.560 --> 01:44:30.240] Unfortunately, that puts most Americans at risk of catching stupidity, but there is hope. [01:46:30.000 --> 01:46:49.920] Okay, we are back, Randy Kelton, Debra Stevens, Steve Skidmore, we're on the radio and we're [01:46:49.920 --> 01:46:57.120] talking on the break and I want to say that from my perspective, what Johnny's daughter [01:46:57.120 --> 01:47:03.240] did in jumping on this guy was exactly right. [01:47:03.240 --> 01:47:15.880] And what the teachers did for exacting a potential punishment against her was exactly right. [01:47:15.880 --> 01:47:19.240] Everybody did what was right and that worked out the way it should. [01:47:19.240 --> 01:47:23.880] I grew up in an inner city school and these were the mean streets and I used to get beat [01:47:23.880 --> 01:47:25.520] up on a regular basis. [01:47:25.520 --> 01:47:32.400] The thing that stopped me from getting beat up by all of these guys every day was me getting [01:47:32.400 --> 01:47:38.720] the crap beat out of me because this kid, when I was in the eighth grade that was like [01:47:38.720 --> 01:47:46.120] four years older than me and four inches taller than me, I finally had enough just like Johnny [01:47:46.120 --> 01:47:55.520] 's daughter and we were in a classroom and he walked by me and punched me in the stomach [01:47:55.520 --> 01:48:02.560] and I just had had all I could take and we had one heck of a fight and he beat the crap [01:48:02.560 --> 01:48:05.560] out of me. [01:48:05.560 --> 01:48:16.080] And the school wanted to expel me and my father came in and big to do, they didn't expel me [01:48:16.080 --> 01:48:22.200] after that this guy, nobody else wanted anything to do with me. [01:48:22.200 --> 01:48:24.680] They kept their distance. [01:48:24.680 --> 01:48:28.760] This is what I learned from that. [01:48:28.760 --> 01:48:33.240] We have to stand up for ourselves and when we stand up for ourselves, we're going to [01:48:33.240 --> 01:48:38.240] have to defend ourselves from other people. [01:48:38.240 --> 01:48:44.040] I knew when I jumped on this guy that the school was going to come after me. [01:48:44.040 --> 01:48:45.760] Take your best shot. [01:48:45.760 --> 01:48:51.640] Well, but yeah, you were defending yourself and in Johnny's daughter's case, she was [01:48:51.640 --> 01:48:57.360] defending herself too because the guy had broken her glasses. [01:48:57.360 --> 01:49:04.040] She was defending herself because listen, what would happen next? [01:49:04.040 --> 01:49:07.240] He could have punched her in the face because this is what happens. [01:49:07.240 --> 01:49:08.480] It's not just bullying. [01:49:08.480 --> 01:49:10.600] This goes on in abusive relationships. [01:49:10.600 --> 01:49:11.600] Hold on, hold on. [01:49:11.600 --> 01:49:12.960] I see it all the time. [01:49:12.960 --> 01:49:19.920] Once the abuse starts, it only gets worse and worse and worse and the violence only progresses [01:49:19.920 --> 01:49:23.520] and it continues to progress because you're dealing with psychopaths here. [01:49:23.520 --> 01:49:28.440] At some point you have to defend yourself and I wanted to make, hold on, hold on, because [01:49:28.440 --> 01:49:29.440] Randy, Randy, hold on. [01:49:29.440 --> 01:49:30.440] We got a few minutes left. [01:49:30.440 --> 01:49:35.560] Let me say what I have to say here because last night I couldn't finish with Patrick. [01:49:35.560 --> 01:49:40.560] This also shows that everything is by commercial agreement, which is what I was going to last [01:49:40.560 --> 01:49:42.880] night. [01:49:42.880 --> 01:49:47.040] When Johnny started pointing out the difference between their policy and their law, what was [01:49:47.040 --> 01:49:48.040] the first thing they said? [01:49:48.040 --> 01:49:50.880] They said, well, she agreed or you guys agreed or both. [01:49:50.880 --> 01:49:53.680] Both of y'all agreed and then Johnny's like, uh-uh, guess what? [01:49:53.680 --> 01:49:55.520] We didn't agree to that. [01:49:55.520 --> 01:49:59.040] He made them go pull the document from the file and here's another thing that I would [01:49:59.040 --> 01:50:05.640] say about having kids sign to agree to these so-called policies. [01:50:05.640 --> 01:50:09.880] I don't know if that has been ever tested in court, but I could tell you right now just [01:50:09.880 --> 01:50:13.320] from my study of law, I don't see how that would ever stand up in court. [01:50:13.320 --> 01:50:16.160] I don't see how it would ever hold water because they're a minor. [01:50:16.160 --> 01:50:17.240] They're not an adult. [01:50:17.240 --> 01:50:18.520] They can't make an agreement. [01:50:18.520 --> 01:50:20.480] They can't sign contracts. [01:50:20.480 --> 01:50:25.160] What matters is what has the parents agreed to? [01:50:25.160 --> 01:50:28.920] That's what matters and so yeah, Johnny, you did the right thing. [01:50:28.920 --> 01:50:35.760] Parents need to amend these contracts, initial the little changes and all that and send them [01:50:35.760 --> 01:50:39.840] back and if they accept it, then they accept the changes and that's just the way it is. [01:50:39.840 --> 01:50:51.800] I think she was right in attacking this guy and I agree with you that this nonsense of [01:50:51.800 --> 01:50:57.480] having children sign commercial agreements, are you kidding me? [01:50:57.480 --> 01:51:00.040] That is absolutely nonsense. [01:51:00.040 --> 01:51:02.320] Complete and total nonsense. [01:51:02.320 --> 01:51:11.680] In the real world we live in, if I perceive that somebody else wronged me, I don't get [01:51:11.680 --> 01:51:18.880] to go beat the crap out of them and if there is a circumstance where I have to resort to [01:51:18.880 --> 01:51:26.400] physical violence, I need to understand there are going to be consequences. [01:51:26.400 --> 01:51:34.560] I will resort to physical violence if I have to, but only if I absolutely have to. [01:51:34.560 --> 01:51:42.600] I am not going to resort to physical violence simply because I feel justified to do so. [01:51:42.600 --> 01:51:44.080] No, absolutely not. [01:51:44.080 --> 01:51:47.400] That's what Mark Pasio discusses in his recent documentary. [01:51:47.400 --> 01:51:54.520] This goes to self-defense and I wouldn't even qualify what Johnny's daughter did as attacking [01:51:54.520 --> 01:51:55.720] the other guy. [01:51:55.720 --> 01:51:58.320] She was defending herself. [01:51:58.320 --> 01:52:00.240] He was attacking her. [01:52:00.240 --> 01:52:03.040] The glasses were already broken. [01:52:03.040 --> 01:52:05.760] It had just happened within seconds. [01:52:05.760 --> 01:52:08.320] She was defending herself on the spot. [01:52:08.320 --> 01:52:14.360] She didn't premeditatedly three hours later go and jump on him. [01:52:14.360 --> 01:52:16.600] It was in process. [01:52:16.600 --> 01:52:17.600] It was defense. [01:52:17.600 --> 01:52:18.600] Okay. [01:52:18.600 --> 01:52:19.600] Okay. [01:52:19.600 --> 01:52:20.600] Well, she needs... [01:52:20.600 --> 01:52:21.600] Yeah, go ahead. [01:52:21.600 --> 01:52:23.960] Johnny was trying to say something. [01:52:23.960 --> 01:52:27.040] Yeah, but Johnny's just going to chump me again. [01:52:27.040 --> 01:52:32.080] Well, you nearly chumped yourself, Randy, a few minutes ago, because when Johnny said [01:52:32.080 --> 01:52:36.360] that you and I, Randy, when Johnny said you and I were looking at this from the perspective [01:52:36.360 --> 01:52:41.440] of adults and you said, well, wait a minute, I take acceptance into that, I was like, well, [01:52:41.440 --> 01:52:42.440] what are you saying? [01:52:42.440 --> 01:52:43.440] You're still a child, Randy? [01:52:43.440 --> 01:52:45.440] Anyway, go ahead, Johnny. [01:52:45.440 --> 01:52:46.440] At heart. [01:52:46.440 --> 01:52:48.000] Go ahead, Johnny. [01:52:48.000 --> 01:52:51.880] Yeah, I do want to finish on that point. [01:52:51.880 --> 01:52:58.080] You know, Randy, schools have changed a lot in the last 10 years, even in the last five [01:52:58.080 --> 01:53:02.400] years, and they're also very different from district to district. [01:53:02.400 --> 01:53:07.040] We just moved barely 10 miles from where we were, and we're in a new school district now, [01:53:07.040 --> 01:53:11.000] and the schools here are very, very different than where we just came from. [01:53:11.000 --> 01:53:17.720] In fact, I can tell we're already going to have a problem with this one, but the way [01:53:17.720 --> 01:53:21.960] things work in a lot of the schools around here is if a kid gets bullied, they have a [01:53:21.960 --> 01:53:22.960] decision to make. [01:53:22.960 --> 01:53:26.480] They can either go tattle, or they can fight back, or they can walk away. [01:53:26.480 --> 01:53:32.440] And the kids who do, once they become the tattletale, they are like an outcast in the [01:53:32.440 --> 01:53:37.360] school, and people who weren't even thinking about picking on them before start picking [01:53:37.360 --> 01:53:40.560] on them, because they know they're just going to go tattle. [01:53:40.560 --> 01:53:46.440] And she said, if you just fight back one time and slug them, even if you don't win the fight, [01:53:46.440 --> 01:53:47.440] that's it. [01:53:47.440 --> 01:53:50.840] They will not pick on you the rest of the year, but then you get expelled. [01:53:50.840 --> 01:53:55.560] And so what I told her, and Randy, I do agree with what you said earlier about there's no [01:53:55.560 --> 01:53:59.440] blanket solution to it. [01:53:59.440 --> 01:54:05.280] But what I did with my daughter is I established some principles and some scenarios and just [01:54:05.280 --> 01:54:12.880] told her, if somebody is verbally abusing you, say what you feel is necessary. [01:54:12.880 --> 01:54:18.840] If they are physically coming after you, if you can walk away from it, walk away from [01:54:18.840 --> 01:54:19.840] it. [01:54:19.840 --> 01:54:22.920] If you have to fight your way out of it, you fight your way out of it. [01:54:22.920 --> 01:54:26.800] If you feel you're in danger or in harm, you don't care what the school policy says. [01:54:26.800 --> 01:54:29.380] You do what you have to do. [01:54:29.380 --> 01:54:34.560] Don't get yourself hurt, because you're worried about what the school says you have to do. [01:54:34.560 --> 01:54:40.040] And if kids will follow that, then I know it's not a blanket answer, but I think you [01:54:40.040 --> 01:54:44.200] have to have some basic principles to stand on. [01:54:44.200 --> 01:54:51.080] And another point I want to make is this whole issue of bullying, the level of bullying and [01:54:51.080 --> 01:54:56.520] the frequency of bullying in the schools, ironically has not only has it increased, [01:54:56.520 --> 01:55:00.960] but it has exploded since they have launched. [01:55:00.960 --> 01:55:04.960] And I think because they have launched this bullying campaign and they've been advertising [01:55:04.960 --> 01:55:13.200] on TV, anytime I go to a school function for my daughter or girlfriend's kids, they have [01:55:13.200 --> 01:55:20.560] signs plastered all over the walls about bullying and posters and things painted on the walls. [01:55:20.560 --> 01:55:23.920] It's almost like what you talk about sometimes, Randy, with the negative suggestion. [01:55:23.920 --> 01:55:29.640] It's almost like they're launching this anti-bullying campaign with the intent, or whether it's [01:55:29.640 --> 01:55:32.880] the intent or not, it's having the effect of increasing the problem. [01:55:32.880 --> 01:55:39.920] Well, especially when the policy encourages it, because the whole point is that if you're [01:55:39.920 --> 01:55:46.560] in a fight, it doesn't matter who starts it, that's like pouring gasoline on the fire right [01:55:46.560 --> 01:55:47.560] there. [01:55:47.560 --> 01:55:52.840] And you're right, Johnny, it is advertising, they're promoting it. [01:55:52.840 --> 01:55:56.700] And here's the other thing, let's start calling it for what it really is. [01:55:56.700 --> 01:55:59.800] It's not bullying, it's assault, okay? [01:55:59.800 --> 01:56:02.360] It's assault, all right? [01:56:02.360 --> 01:56:07.440] When somebody comes up and pushes you, shoves you, break your glasses, throws the kickball [01:56:07.440 --> 01:56:10.960] and makes you hit the tenant into your face, that is assault. [01:56:10.960 --> 01:56:13.240] That's not bullying, okay? [01:56:13.240 --> 01:56:15.440] We got to stop using these euphemisms. [01:56:15.440 --> 01:56:16.440] It's ridiculous. [01:56:16.440 --> 01:56:17.440] It's assault. [01:56:17.440 --> 01:56:18.440] It should be prosecuted. [01:56:18.440 --> 01:56:25.400] Well, and Deborah, when I was having the conversation with the school and trying to get it to sink [01:56:25.400 --> 01:56:30.200] in the difference between law and their policy, that's one thing that I showed them is here's [01:56:30.200 --> 01:56:31.960] what the assault statutes say. [01:56:31.960 --> 01:56:36.640] If somebody's trying to assault me, if I can walk away from it, I have to try to walk [01:56:36.640 --> 01:56:37.640] away from it. [01:56:37.640 --> 01:56:41.480] And if they continue, I get to beat the crap out of them. [01:56:41.480 --> 01:56:44.360] And if you look at what my daughter did, that's exactly what she did. [01:56:44.360 --> 01:56:48.760] She followed law, which unfortunately conflicts with, but also... [01:56:48.760 --> 01:56:54.080] Let me beg to differ with you just slightly. [01:56:54.080 --> 01:57:03.880] If someone is assaulting you, you have no duty to withdraw. [01:57:03.880 --> 01:57:04.880] That's not begging. [01:57:04.880 --> 01:57:07.640] I didn't hear any begging. [01:57:07.640 --> 01:57:09.440] You have no duty to withdraw. [01:57:09.440 --> 01:57:12.360] Now, wait a minute, Randy. [01:57:12.360 --> 01:57:15.120] You have the right to stand your ground. [01:57:15.120 --> 01:57:18.860] Well, I may be wrong, but... [01:57:18.860 --> 01:57:20.720] That's very clearly in the law. [01:57:20.720 --> 01:57:22.760] You have no duty to withdraw. [01:57:22.760 --> 01:57:27.280] They can say, well, this guy was threatening you, you should have walked away. [01:57:27.280 --> 01:57:31.600] The code says you have no duty to withdraw. [01:57:31.600 --> 01:57:40.760] And that would go to exactly what the concern with in the school is they're saying that [01:57:40.760 --> 01:57:48.120] you now necessarily have a duty to withdraw because if you defend yourself, then you're [01:57:48.120 --> 01:57:53.360] subject to retribution. [01:57:53.360 --> 01:57:57.120] And for those listening, I'm not on the other side. [01:57:57.120 --> 01:58:03.080] I've been taking a different perspective for the purpose of the discussion. [01:58:03.080 --> 01:58:04.840] You have no duty to withdraw. [01:58:04.840 --> 01:58:07.360] You ought to dot his eye. [01:58:07.360 --> 01:58:09.640] And whatever comes, comes and deal with it. [01:58:09.640 --> 01:58:10.640] But dot his eye. [01:58:10.640 --> 01:58:11.640] Put it in the nose. [01:58:11.640 --> 01:58:12.640] Dot his eye. [01:58:12.640 --> 01:58:13.640] That's hilarious. [01:58:13.640 --> 01:58:14.640] I was just going to say the same. [01:58:14.640 --> 01:58:15.640] That's hilarious. [01:58:15.640 --> 01:58:19.880] Okay, this is going to fight, man. [01:58:19.880 --> 01:58:20.880] That's all there is to it. [01:58:20.880 --> 01:58:27.600] There is no Crystal Palace world out there where everybody just sits around the fire [01:58:27.600 --> 01:58:28.600] singing Kumbaya. [01:58:28.600 --> 01:58:29.600] Yeah. [01:58:29.600 --> 01:58:30.600] You're a carnivore. [01:58:30.600 --> 01:58:31.600] Right. [01:58:31.600 --> 01:58:32.600] Hold on. [01:58:32.600 --> 01:58:33.600] We're out of time. [01:58:33.600 --> 01:58:41.040] Randy Kelton, Deborah Stevens, Rule of Law Radio.
